Known as "the biggest little village" in Ireland Blarney is just 5 miles away from Cork City and is set in beautiful wooded countryside. With a small population of approximately 2,000 people the villagers are friendly and a warm welcome is guaranteed. Steeped in history and magical charm Blarney offers the tourist a wealth of attractions both historical and recreational.

Built over 600 years ago Blarney Castle is most famous for its Stone which is located high up on the Castle battlements. Legend holds that those who kiss the Blarney Stone will be imparted with the gift of eloquence or "the gift of the gab" as it's more commonly known!

If its shopping that takes your fancy then a trip to Blarney Woolen Mills in County Cork is not to be missed! Established in 1824 the outlet has become one of the largest craft shops in Ireland renowned for its quality souvenirs and fine clothing range.

Blarney Village hosts two excellent golf courses and you don't need to be a member to have a game on the links. For the more active visitor there is an impressive water-ski centre which offers first-rate coaching and is open between May through to September each year. If its family activities that interest you then the Woodland Farm offers an educational yet fun nature trial that is very reasonably priced.

If you're travelling through West Cork then a trip to the charming coastal village of Baltimore is a must! Normally a population of just 300 inhabitants Baltimore swells to over 2000 during the summer months as its magical charm draws the tourists in. Steeped in nautical history Baltimore is famous for its restaurants, harbour and the Glenans sailing club.

Sailing, diving, angling and kayaking are among the most popular activities. For those of sea-bearing legs charter boats for coastal day trips or more exciting shark and wreck fishing trips are reasonably priced. On a clear summers day there is no better way to pass an afternoon then taking a boating trip along the coast.

Ferries go to Cape Clear and Sherkin Islands daily which are home to quiet sandy beaches and peaceful harbours. If you prefer to stay on dry land Baltimore offers beautiful gardens to explore as well as golf, horse-riding and plenty more.
