What do you think is the best exercise to lose weight? Perhaps you would not expect this, but one of the greatest myths on exercise is that one has to sweat bullets to lose the weight and burn the fat. Really, cardio workouts that are low intensity and diversified by changes in levels of intensity will help burn a greater degree of calories.

The best exercise to lose weight will include a workout that begins with slow, aerobic exercises that slowly build in intensity for a time and then gradually return to a slower pace. Workouts like these particularly affect the major muscles groups, resulting in a more effective fat burning exercise.

If all you do is high intensity workouts, your body will burn more sugar as opposed to burning fat because it needs quick energy and the sugar from the food in your system delivers that fuel your body is craving much quicker than fat.

High intensity workouts like running, playing tennis, racquetball and basketball can benefit your overall fitness condition. But, they will not burn a lot of body fat because your body prefers the sugar in your system for quick energy.

So, low-intensity cardio workouts where you vary your intensity level are actually the best fat burning workouts because these types of exercises require slow but steady fuel and your body will eventually start burning stored fat for the energy it requires.

Walking at different speeds, cycling, swimming, elliptical trainer workouts, and different treadmill workouts are all good examples of good fat burning workouts. Just remember to vary the levels of intensity to get the best fat burning results from your workout.

The residual effect of this type of aerobic exercise is what gives you the most fat burning benefits. Exercises like the ones just mentioned will boost your metabolism, resulting in prolonged fat burning even after your workout is done.

Long workouts are not necessarily required. You can start with just twenty minutes of a good fat burning workout to get the fat burning enzymes going. Once your level of fitness gets better, you can eventually add more time to your workout. For beginners, 3 days a week would be a good start, gradually working up to 5 days as your fitness level improves.

Either a treadmill or elliptical trainer makes for the perfect fitness equipment for getting your workouts in at home. You can stay fit in any given weather condition and they are perfect for the whole family to use. This type of equipment usually lasts for years and you don't have to deal with going to the gym.

Stationary bikes can offer some of the most beneficial fat burning workouts. They are very easy to make adjustments in intensity levels to vary the resistance and to diversify your workouts.

Just making simple adjustments in your workout can result in big-time differences in your body's fat burning ability. The equipment and routines in this article can help up super charge your metabolism and get the best fat burning results possible.
