How To Find The Greatest Credit Card Rate

Mar 10, 2008
When customers enter a shop the first thing they are looking for is credit card rate. Actually this is the most important thing to be considered when they have to choose one of the various credit cards. Companies providing plastic money for their customers usually compare the annual percentage rate (APR) also called credit card rate.

When clients compare this credit card rate, companies with low APR are more likely to be chosen. The truth is, on the other hand, that APR is not the only feature customers have to compare in their minds before making their option for a certain credit card. Considering the entire variety of credit cards around us, customers have to own a well-funded amount of knowledge about these rates so that they cannot be confused and make a wrong choice.

Credit card rate or APR refers to the rate of interest charged by the card supplier on the amount you owe them every month. When you filed your application for a credit card, you have signed to agree to the company's terms and conditions and this one is included. When you do not make full payments of your purchases for a month, the card company will charge you an interest for that.

Every month, your bank card supplier will send you a credit bill which specifies the full amount you owe them for the whole period. The bill also specifies the due date and the minimum payment you must pay. If you delay your payment or fail to pay up, you will incur a late fee and other charges which will be added to your account balance.

The options offered by a company differ from the claim of having paid the entire sum you owe to it or the minimum amount at the end of the month. If you pay the entire sum of money, you will not have any new charges added to your present account. Otherwise, paying just the minimum amount will attract an interest depending on your already known company's credit card rate.

This is precisely why you cannot refuse to pay now the interest rate, because you have signed that application. It is easy to understand this: if you do not pay the entire sum of money you have used that month, or just delay it, you will have to pay extra-charges next time.

When you make another partial payment for the following month, your new balance will be calculated and the corresponding interest will be added. This means that if you keep on making partial payments, your balance will keep on increasing and growing every month. This is something you need to watch out for because it may be too late before you realize you cannot pay up anymore.

This is why evaluating the credit card rate is very important when you choose your credit card. Remember this little plastic is powerful that could make you miserable if you do not practice discipline.
