The "silent killer" is what many people call hypertension. Cardiovascular disease and hypertension are attached at the hip, so the name is well earned. High blood pressure can and often goes untreated, typically due to mild symptoms that are not addressed, until one day the heart suddenly gives out. This why we all hear stories of healthy 40 year old people dying tragically from a massive heart attack.

The Statistics Prove the Link Between Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension

Almost 60% of people who die from a sudden cardiac event suffered from hypertension. People who have moderate to high hypertension fall into the high risk category for cardiovascular disease as the two are closely related.

Hypertension places and extreme amount of wear and tear and pressure on the heart. If it goes untreated, the heart will eventually give out. The symptoms for hypertension are clear but often go ingored due to high demands in ones professional life, inability to slow down and relax, or just not appreciating the symptoms and hoping they will go away.

Controlling Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension

People can treat hypertension effectively with a little effort. Medication is available to help as well has more natural treatments and exercise and rest. A person must get serious to tackle this disease and be willing to under go a lifestyle change if necessary. Other easy steps include exercise regularly, good diet, stop smoking, and reduce stress.

Hypertension is a national crisis that needs to be addressed with personal responsibility. The results could be a stroke or sudden cardiac arrest due to the hardening and thickening of the arteries. If people want to live a long and healthy life, they must take control of the disease and address it aggresively to defeat it.

There are many research studies which are looking into the possibility of making a drug that can reverse cardiovascular disease and these show promising results. However, until such a drug is discovered and well within your reach you need to keep a close watch on all the factors that strengthen the cardiovascular disease and hypertension link through all the means available to you.
