Fat Loss, Every Little Bit...

Mar 16, 2008
Sometimes it's easy to forget that you don't get overweight overnight and for most people take decades to really get fat.

They're not gluttonous pigs or bad people; they simple over eat a tiny amount every day and don't burn it off. It's all too easy to do.

What you may not realize it the same program can work in reverse, just eat a tiny bit less and get 60 to 90 minutes of exercise per WEEK and you can have a new slimmer body in less time than you think.

Take just not eating one slice of bread. That's about 100 calories. In three years, just cutting this amount, you will lose 1 pound of body fat. Now that doesn't seem like much, but remember it is body fat loss, not weight loss we are going for. As an example, think losing the double chin or one love handle.

Now add in the 60 to 90 minutes of exercise per week, this probably burns about 300 to 600 calories, say just 300 to make it easier to calculate and account for missed days. That means you will lose a pound of pure fat every year, actually a bit more since a pound of fat is 3500 calories.

Again, sounds like too little, but in three years you could lose two love handles, a double chin and go down a waist size. That's respectable and it sure beats getting fatter, which just happens to be the logical outcome of keeping the same diet and not doing any exercise.

One missed pastry here, one salad instead of a hamburger and fries, one extra 20 minute walk, one less drink at a party, all these little things can make a huge difference in the way you look, it won't be overnight, but it will be noticeable.

The best part is as you start to do this, it will become easier, not harder, to avoid the bad things and eat the good ones. Making small changes at a time will be much easier for you to achieve and you will be far likely to succeed with your fat loss journey.

So remember, when it comes to burning fat, a little means a lot in the long run.

Also remember that if you are eating way too much, this program will only slow your journey to obesity, not stop it or reverse it.

Unlearning old diet habits and re-educating your taste buds to get to like good, nutritious and healthy food choices is worth it, both for you and your family. After all, you don't want your children to lose you early to some avoidable disease.
