Fast, Simple Fibromyalgia Pain Relief Methods

Mar 18, 2008
Fibromyalgia is a constant condition signaled by pervasive pain in your tendons, ligaments and muscles, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points - places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.

Some Pain Relief Methods For Fibromyalgia

Exercise is very important in Fibromyalgia pain relief. The best time to exercise is in the morning. This gives the best results. Start with 10 or 15 minute seesions and gradually work up to longer sessions (one hour is recommended) as soon as you experience no pain. Pain is not good. Stop if there is pain. Soreness is OK.

A Low Carbohydrate Diet May Help

Another way in which you could achieve Fibromyalgia pain relief is through a low carbohydrates diet complemented by high consumption of protein. You need to be careful and avoid all the saturated fats from your diet, as well as sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and the like. A closely guarded diet and a good and regular exercising regime could work wonders here.

Use A Heating Pad

Fibromyalgia pain can be mitigated by applying heat to the painful part of your body. This topcial appliance will increase the circulation and get your bood flowing in the afflicted area. It also loosens up stiff joints. Use the heating pad during the night and also the daytime for best results to finally eliminate the pain from Fibromyalgia.

Application Applied To The Skin

There are also many over the counter topical applications which you could use for emergency Fibromyalgia pain relief. In most cases you would find considerable relief with the application of the ointment or solution when applied directly to the affected place.

Deep Tissue Massage

Listen! Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, the practitioner can access deeper layers of the soft tissue. Starting superficially and easing into the depth of the muscle slowly often allows more movement. If the pressure is applied too deeply or too quickly, the muscle may tighten to protect that area, and unnecessary damage or inflammation can be induced. Very little lubricant is used as the pressure doesn't travel much over the skin.

Combining The Methods

Better control of your pain may be possible by combining two or more of the above methods. That is, you cobine diet and massage for example. Don't expect result overnight. It takes time for these methods to work. Once you find a combindation that works stick with it. Whatever you decide upon, od not forget to follow the diet and exercise for added benefits.

Homeopathy

Some people try homeopathy and say it works to relieve the pain of Fibromyualgia. It is not recognized by medical authorities in the United States. In spite of that some people find it helps to alleviate the pain of Fibromyalgia. Go figure.
