Preventing Hair Loss With The Right Nutrition

Mar 19, 2008
The immediate process that causes balding is the existence of dihydrotestosterone in the scalp. The main villain of this story is testosterone (DHT is its derivative) - DHT is created when testosterone contacts the follicles. This means that women are fairly safe, but most men are in danger of the hair loss. DHT prevents proper nutrition of the follicle and thickens the scalp, limiting the amount of blood that arrives there. Taken together, these are enough to cause hair to lose strength and eventually fall off.

However, you may ask why some men don't lose their hair even though they surely have high level of testosterone in their blood. The answer is simple: because they have enough DHT blockers in their scalps to prevent it. How can one get enough DHT blockers? It's simple, too - all you need to do is to introduce them into your bloodstream through topical application and a proper diet.

Weapons Against DHT

First, there comes zinc. While it does not react directly with DHT, it helps prevent hair loss by indirectly countering the DHT effects. Zinc is a great stress reducer, relaxing muscles and effectively preventing DHT from tightening them. People with zinc deficiencies are among the first victims of baldness. It can be found in a variety of products, including whole grains, mushrooms and red meat. However, we should pay a lot of attention to dozing it - a zinc overdose can hamper your iron absorption rate and trigger anemia.

Next, there is Vitamin H, a component of the B complex vitamin group. It helps hair growth and is directly responsible for their strength, as it is responsible for the fatty acid metabolism and fueling the growth speed of hair as well as the rate the damages are being repaired. The only problem is that most natural sources of Vitamin H (or biotin, as it is sometimes called) are also incredibly rich in fat.

Proteins are a necessary part of our nutrition. Among other good things, they play an important role in keeping our hair thick and strong. No wonder that they are a common add-on to many shampoos - nourishing one's hair with proteins can increase their volume by even 50%! While they cannot cause any hair regrowth, they are essential in keeping those strands which are left in good condition.

Carotene, carotenoid and retinol - all those names really mean the same chemical compound: Vitamin A. While most people associate carotene to improving our vision, this vitamin is also a great way to reduce the amount of DHT. Carotene takes control over sebum production, keeping it on the optimum level - enough to moisturize the strands, but not enough to block the skin pores. With the normalized sebum production, DHT has much less chances to cause any lasting damages. The vitamin can be supplied through a well-planned diet, if only it's abundant with yellow and orange vegetables and fish oil. Just make sure that you don't stray too far from the recommended daily intake (2500 IU), carotene may get toxic if it's overabundant in the body.

Vitamin E is another helpful amino acid. As with Vitamin A, its effects are much wider than just helping hair. Vitamin E's main role is to stimulate blood circulation and rejuvenate the skin. By promoting blood circulation, it counters the negative effects of DHT and keeps the flow of nutrients into the hair on the scalp. It can be easily found in nuts, soybeans and many other food products. The only problem is that vitamin can't be used excessively. Everything over 400 IU a day may start rising your blood pressure!

The role of nutrients in the prevention of the balding process is well-known and keeping the right amount of all abovementioned products in your diet should generally be enough to prevent hair loss. The problem is that in most cases it is hardly possible for a normal diet to accommodate for all those nutrients while keeping your blood pressure and weight at a stable level. That's why most people would do much better if they chose to use a proper nutritional supplement instead of trying to create an ideal diet. And fortunately for them, the solution is right at hand. A major producer of anti-hair loss products, ProFollica, offers an excellent nutritional supplement that contains all necessary nutrients in right doses to make them both effective and safe. To make everything better, the ProFollica system contains much more than just the nutrients and check it yourself.
