Obesity is a growing problem all over the world. It is true and not an exaggeration to say that obesity is a global epidemic. The main reason for this problem is the change in our lifestyles. We live in a fast world now. We do eat lot junk foods. Can we find a solution to obesity?

Obesity can definitely be controlled. There are certain tried and tested methods using one you can lose weight quickly. However, all those methods are not that easy to follow. Losing weight is not an overnight affair. The question is- how to lose weight fast?

First you should know the reasons for one becoming obese .This is important before discussing about various techniques for losing weight. You may think obesity is related to 'overeating'; It is not always so. You need to know that genetics also plays an important role in making a person obese. The important cause for obesity is improper eating habits.

Our body requires the following nutrients for growth, repair and maintenance: proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals and fats. People believe that all types of carbohydrates and fats are 'bad'. The term 'glycemic index' (GI) is becoming popular these days. Is there an answer to the question- how to lose weight fast?

It has been proved that low GI foods improve the sensitivity of our body to insulin. Obese people should stick to a diet which is rich in low GI foods. Diabetic patients must also consume low GI foods. Regulating your calorie-intake is also important if you want to lose weight.

Avoid eating potatoes and fried foods. Consume fruits instead of fruit juices. Aerated drinks are rich in calories. Pizzas, burgers and aerated drinks help gain excess weight. Cardiovascular exercises are perhaps the simplest of all remedies for obesity. One must plan an exercise schedule and stick to it.

Cardiovascular exercises facilitate 'fat loss 4 idiots' too. There are three types of cardiovascular exercises- High Intensity, Moderate Intensity and Low Intensity. Start with Low Intensity cardiovascular exercises (like walking) and gradually progress to High Intensity exercises (like swimming and rope skipping) via Moderate Intensity exercises (like jogging).
