Pros and Cons of the Garmin NUVI 1300 Compared with 855

Jan 19, 2012
Garmin NUVI 855, a premium navigator featured with voice-activated navigation and lane assist with junction view. Therefore, the user can keep their both hands on the wheel and just tell the machine the place you want to go, it will easily promote you the effective route for travel. Being a following up products, the Garmin NUVI 1300 do inherit the good tradition of voice-activated navigation. Moreover, it is improved the volume of voice promotion according to the users' feedback of which the 855 sounds lower. The users complain that the 855 volume is too low to hear, while the Garmin 1300 is improved in this aspect to offer you a clear voice even when the door of windows of the car is open. As a result, it is recommendable only by considering the louder volume.

Despite the above advantage of Garmin NUVI 1300, the following features are also valuable for using it. The appearance is designed simply and shapely. With an ultra thin and widescreen, yet it is light enough to take along with you all over your travels. The widescreen display can make you get big pictures to view the details in map, driving directions. The screen also adopts the feature of sunlight-readable, thus you can read the map on the machine from any direction and angles. The machine offers regional map and can announce the street by name thus you can pay your whole attention in driving without looking at the screen, therefore, the safety is guaranteed in your journey. Moreover, the Garmin NUVI 1300 is basically a navigation tool, while it performs more than a navigator. It can be described as the best partner for you travel because you can learn the most efficient route of where to find a hotel, where to get a subway station. The time you take to the terminal places can also be calculated by it. This powerful function can be realized by downloading a CityXplorer into your machine.

As for the cons of the Garmin NUVI 1300, it must be mentioned that the halfway point saves only a few number. You have to reset the place once you change a new city or place. Compared with the 855, which can save more halfway points, it will be more favorable if the number can be increased. Moreover, the Garmin 1300 fails to identify the shortcuts and insisted on taking me longer routes involving freeways. After research the reason from the website, I learned that the map should be updated timely, and the problem never happens to me from then on.

Anyway, since every coin has two sides, the shortcomings of Garmin 1300 can be neglected due to its high performance-price ratio among the same products with same price. Strongly recommend!I've had a Garmin for several years now, just the no bells and whistles model. It has been a life saver and I love the product. I just ordered the 1350LMT in lieu of paying for updated maps and because the car plug in quit working properly and the unit kept shutting off while trying to reach my destination. So far the 1350 model proves to do be a very reliable product. I haven't used the traffic feature yet, but I have read that it isn't that great, perhaps after use I will post again.
