Mar 25, 2008
Pilates has become one of the most popular ways of exercise. There are around 9 million people in the U.S. that participate in some form of Pilates and that number is rapidly growing each year.

A report released by the U.S. Department of Labor predicts that career opportunities in the fitness market will grow faster than any other market, at least until 2012. If you're searching for a lasting career, Pilates may be the perfect choice.

Facilities and studios in cities all across America are now offering Pilates training. The training for Pilates certification is usually offered in two separate parts - comprehensive instruction and mat instruction.

The courses to earn a certificate in mat instruction can usually be found at many health clubs. These are short classes that are normally offered over one or two weekends. You can expect to pay at least $100 for these classes, but they can cost more.

The comprehensive training is a more elaborate undertaking. It usually takes a minimum of one year and can take even longer. Basic anatomy and psychology courses must be completed and you will need to serve as a teacher apprentice for a required number of hours.

They may also require that you've had at least one year of previous Pilates training and have had a number of private sessions. The tuition fees will range anywhere from $2,000 up to $4,000.

There are many specialized fields for Pilates. You may choose to target athletes, children or go into rehabilitive Pilates. If your desire is to be a teacher, training classes of your own students, comprehensive training will teach you all you need to know.

If you happen to live in an area where you don't have access to Pilates training, you may want to receive Pilates certification online. There's a variety of places available and many with fee's beginning as low as $50.
