Don't End Up In the Recycle Bin With a Bad Profile

Mar 29, 2008
Meeting women online is super easy - if you KNOW how to do it. Most guys don't, and their first email ends up in the recycle bin with every other Joe Blah that emails her. Or - your profile - which is like every other dude's on the site, gets skimmed by because it does not catch her eye.

Take a minute and imagine you are a hot babe who has just put a profile up on an online dating forum. Next - imagine you are that same woman who, in an hour, has 50 emails from 50 different losers all telling her the same thing.

She clicks on the first one, smiling in anticipation. Her smile fades slowly as she reads the same humdrum thing, "Funny, honest, SWM looking for a good time and possible LTR with SWF. I like long walks on the beach, moonlit nights" (Although he lives in Oklahoma). Recycle bin! Next: "I am a funny, hard working SWM looking for a SWF for a possible LTR. I like candle light dinners" Didn't I just read that?

See my point here? You have GOT to do something ORIGINAL in order to get her attention. You need to come across in your email as someone DIFFERENT than the other 900 losers that emailed her and then, you have to get her OFFLINE and on the phone as quickly as possible.

And just how do you do that? Use some humor, my friend, and bust her balls a bit. Write something in your first email that would have gotten you a sound punch in the arm if she had been standing right beside you. Be daring, be a brat. Call her a dork or tell her that if she would wear green mud and cucumbers on her face at night it might help her wrinkles. Say something unexpected, and unique.

Another quick tip I will give you here, too, is to get different email accounts for each dating site you are on. You will probably be on more than one, and you should, but she might too! So use different email addresses to make it look a little less like you are fishing in a barrel.

Additionally, when you are responding to her - be sure to respond to something that she actually SAID in her profile. Don't send out form letters. She will know whether or not you actually READ it, so take the time to do that.

Next, keep on top of the ads! There are a LOT of people using online dating forums. Be one of the first people to grab her and then - take her OFFLINE. Got that? Be the first in line, and then get her OFF the website as soon as possible and into a real world interaction with you. Call her, meet her for coffee, take her to lunch - whatever it takes to get you implanted into her life AS YOU ARE.

One more key piece of dating advice - when you arrange for your first meeting - she is GOING to be nervous. Her friends are telling her "You are meeting someone you met ONLINE??" So ease her fears. Meet for coffee at Starbucks in the middle of the day or for lunch somewhere. That will be much more "secure" feeling to her than a dinner date or a club.

Once you know HOW to do it - meeting women online can be a GREAT addition to your dating repertoire. Just use your head and remember that to get the girl, you need to get her attention first!
