The Key To Success With Your Diet for 6 Pack Abs

Mar 30, 2008
For most people, embarking on a quest for 6 pack abs and dieting is a constant struggle. Failure to lose belly fat, get 6 pack abs, and improve your overall health might be directly related to a plan that is simply too aggressive. Here I will explain why you should never dive in head first to a diet and exercise plan, and provide a footprint to get 6 pack abs.

Your body has been trained over the years to function in the most efficient manner possible, given the inputs you give it every day. If you consume 2000 calories in a normal day, your body is optimized to operate assuming another 2000 calories will arrive the next day. Functions such as metabolism, heart rate, and fat storage are trained for this condition.

One of the biggest errors you can make in starting a new diet, is immediately starting with the optimal input of calories and exercise from the very beginning. Cutting your food intake to a level drastically below the normal level will often mean 50% less input. Parallel to this, the amount of vitamins, nutrients, and other sources of fuel to your body are cut as well.

In response, your body will be shocked into an emergency response mode. In short, suddenly the fat storage process kicks into another gear, as the body starts to assume food is in a shortage situation. Your body is protecting you from starving, so it becomes very reluctant to give up the fat.

An approach to consider is to develop a detailed, measured approach to your diet and exercise plan. Do not just start into a diet as full speed. Instead, consider reducing 100 calories each week for 5-10 weeks to get to your ultimate goal. Gradually build your workout sessions from light to moderate over the course of the same time frame. The result will be less shock and panic by your body, and more sustained, healthy weight loss.

With your reduced food intake, you will normally need to supplement your diet to ensure you are receiving proper amounts of vitamins and nutrients. Fortunately, there is a supplement for virtually and diet plan readily available for very economical prices. A word of caution about supplements: be sure you fully understand what you are taking, and what the effects are before you start. Finally, you should always discuss with a medical professional before starting any diet program and/or taking supplements.
