Things You Need To Know To Get The Most Out Of Your Motorcycle Tires

Mar 31, 2008
Every person that drives a car or rides a motorcycle needs to know about tires and how to treat them when you are driving. If you do not know how to properly care for your tires then you should start thinking about maybe learning. It want take you long to learn and it will be helpful when trying to either repair or work on tires.

The right size is extremely important. You will want to get the same size tires as you had on your bike before because if you don't the way it handles will be different from when you rode it and drove it around. The tires are either going to be smaller or bigger and in this case they would most likely be bigger.

Proper tire pressure is crucial. Pressure increases with temperature. You should check your tires on the regular and you should never leak air from a hot tire. You will also want to learn how to properly change a tire in case of a blow out and I wouldn't think it would look that good if you had a blow out on a bike. You should always know what you're doing before you start to do it.

The wear of your tires affects performance and mileage. You should check the tires on the regular to make sure that you are not wearing them down to fast and too hard. Sometimes that can be a problem because you are not supposed to get on them for the first 100 miles or so because you should always break them in especially if you are riding a bike. A motorcycle's tires should always be driven on at least 200 miles before you start driving on them fast and trying to do tricks and what not.

The valve stems need to be covered and protected. You should always use valves to cover up your air valves so that you don't lose air or get debris in the valve while you are riding your bike.

Warm-up is vital to the life of your motorcycle. Every time that you ride on your bike you should do a warm up so you can get the best grip remember if you let them warm up they will have the best grip.

The Break-in period needs to be followed. once you have warmed up the tires you will want to avoid turning hard or going faster for at least another 100 miles.

You will want to learn at least the basics to tires. You will want to at least know how to change a tire, patch a tire and put air in a tire. You should also know how to read tire pressure as well. If you do not know how to do all of this and you ride a motorcycle then you need to start learning because you do not want to hurt yourself on a bike that's like basically jumping off a moving car.
