Make a Brand New Space with Room Partitions!

Apr 9, 2008
My church recently found its first permanent home. For years we've been meeting on Sunday mornings in the local middle and high schools. Our new building is wonderful but the square footage is limited. We had to get creative to make the space work for the size of our congregation.

Making our new church building accommodate all our Sunday morning visitors was a challenge that we took seriously. Our biggest concern was the organization of our Sunday school space. We had one medium sized room to work with and many children of varying ages in attendance. We had to change this space drastically to make it fit our needs. At the same time, our changes couldn't be permanent. We needed to be able to use the entire room, all at once, on some days. Other days, we'd need to divide the room up into sections to accommodate several small groups. We realized that we needed a flexible solution. We realized that we needed room dividers.

Being an educator and the owner of a large line of educational products, you'd think that I was able to hook my church up with room dividers in a snap. This was not the case. I was missing an opportunity to give our customers options without offering a way to reinvent space in creative and efficient ways. I realized it was time to do some research on room dividers and the ways that they could be used to help my church and my business. I needed to find the best room divider products on the market and be sure I had a variety of types and styles to meet varying needs. My work was cut out for me.

I did my research. I found excellent space saving and space reorganizing solutions. My research also taught me some important things about room partitions that every consumer should know. I'd like to share my knowledge with you because I believe it will save you time and money while optimizing your options.

My first time, money and option optimizing tip is "Consider Quality." Room dividers generally have to hold up against some pretty rough treatment. If you succumb to low quality in an effort to be cost efficient, you'll likely find yourself having to replace your purchase in a short amount of time. The result is less value at a greater cost. A room divider takes the place of an otherwise existing wall, so it must be well constructed to stand the test of time. A few extra dollars spent will save you money and hassle in the long run.

My second tip is "Consider Stability." Room dividers will get bumped into, moved around and changed into a variety of configurations. You don't want your room divider tipping or falling over during use. Buy a partition that is stable. Look for high quality rolling casters that lock, "T Shaped" end members (a perpendicular piece added to the very ends of the divider to stop tipping) and hinges/flexibility that allows you maneuver your divider in a number of stable positions. Hardware that allows you to secure the ends of your divider to the wall can increase stability as well. Stability equals safety, so don't settle for a potentially unstable solution. Make sure your divider meets all your stability requirements.

My third tip is "Consider Noise." Getting a divider that meets with the floor and ceiling can stop noise from traveling. Dividers with fabric finishes are great for absorbing sound. Some dividers come together in a flush fashion to stop noise from sneaking through cracks and openings. When you divide a room you want each new space to have a level of privacy and use potential. It's best to seek out a noise reducing solution.

My last tip is "Consider Variety." The room divider market has changed over the years. You'll be surprised at the options. I found flexible dividers that can roll up for storage and be used to make circular and "S-Shaped" configurations. I discovered that dividers come in endless sizes, shapes, colors and designs. If you do a little research you'll find what you really need. Don't settle for an inefficient solution.

Get your space organized! Make a space that fits your needs! Create a room that will do more for you! Room dividers are a simple, inexpensive and creative solution to the toughest organizational challenges. Make your space brand new with room partitions!
