Rosacea And The Sun, Not Best Friends Forever

Apr 11, 2008
The sun can be one of the most beautiful things for anyone, but who knew it could be so damaging to your skin? Rosacea is a common condition that may be caused from too much exposure to the sun causing your skin to become red and uncomfortable. Rosacea is more common in fair-skinned people, but anyone can get Rosacea.

Some of the first signs of Rosacea are redness on the skin after exercising, sudden changes in temperature, and cleansing (this doesn't make sense!). When you've experienced a large amount of exposure to the sun you will typically get sun (burned) if you have fair skin. Over time this may develop into Rosacea.

Research has been done to determine if there are any ways to assist in the treatment of Rosacea. Currently there are no signs that when someone takes part in long-term treatments for Rosacea that any improvements will actually occur. One of the best ways to help prevent Rosacea is to utilize a photostable broad spectrum sunscreen containing Mexoryl which provides both UVA and UVB protection. This will not only protect your skin, but also soothe the skin from the sun's beautiful but deadly rays.

The sun is responsible for a lot of damage to your skin so it's a good idea to take care of your skin and prevent damage. Individuals with Rosacea are often embarrassed by their red and blush like skin, but relaxation and cooling the skin will help it go back to a lighter tinge. Rosacea has become more common as the years progress. Protection of your skin is the only way you can keep it beautiful and vibrant.

Sunscreen technology has developed a lot over the years resulting in formulations that protect against both UVA and UVB rays. As well, most sunscreens today don't leave you with a ghostly white cast so there's no excuse for not using it. Unfortunately, there will always be those who do not protect their skin and end up fighting a skin disorder the rest of their lives. Rosacea may be the skin condition that people can find themselves dealing with for their entire life, despite all the treatments available. No one can deny that the sun is warm and gives your skin a nice glow, but it does not always do wonders for your skin in the long run. Rosacea can be difficult to control at first and can take a large amount of time to stay controlled, , but over time you can find treatments that may help diminish the appearance of your Rosacea.

Sun exposure does have an affect on Rosacea and can cause your Rosacea to go to the next level of skin damage. If you are planning on spending time in the sun you should also take the time to protect your skin before its too late. If you have Rosacea it's not wise to expose yourself to the sun, but only high spf60 sunblock like Anthelios or Mexoryl sunscreens are available to allow you to keep enjoying that wonderful time under the sun.
