Trust Your Intuition, Not A Fortune Teller

Apr 12, 2008
We are surrounded by promotions for psychic readings and related services. Some of these offers are legitimate, while many others exist only to relieve the hopeful and desperate of their money. The truth is you don't need somebody else to "read" your life because you already have the ability to solve your own problems and answer your own questions.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying going to another person for help is a bad idea altogether. But the blind trust people are willing to place in alleged "readers" and other people claiming to have extraordinary powers indicates a growing lack of self-esteem within our culture and a desire to look for answers anywhere but within ourselves.

I'm not even saying all the people offering psychic services are frauds. In fact I'd wager quite a few of them have spent time developing their natural intuition to a level greater than what most of us have attained.

But my point is, a little self love and trust placed within is almost always enough to help us find the answers on our own. Every one of us has a potentially powerful sense of intuition, by which we can know things in a way not attached to our logical or intellectual capacities.

You may or may not believe this. Either way it's a simple, non-mystical fact of human life. We all have at least a basic level of intuitive ability.

This could manifest as a physical sensation, or "gut feeling".

For some people intuition occurs in the form of vivid mind pictures.

For others, myself included, intuition is the experience of simply knowing this or that.

While there are different ways to receive intuitive signals from within, we can see a common thread: Intuitive insights tend to be right.

I'm not saying everything works out perfectly (whatever that might be) when we follow our intuition, but almost always this course will lead us to what is most appropriate for us at the time.

Here is a quick and easy way for you to begin testing, and therefore developing, your own intuition:

When you come to a decision, step back from the situation for just a minute. Do your best to clear you mind and focus on something other than the question at hand.

Once you have achieved at least some objectivity, return your attention to the decision you must make and ask yourself very directly what the best thing to do is. Watch your thought process and identify the very first response that comes up.

Often this will be your intuitive response; but only if you are truly able to ask/answer this question from a relaxed, confident frame of mind. You will likely need to practice this technique a few times before getting comfortable with it, and at first you might not be responding intuitively at all to your direct question.

The good news is, if you'll put a sincere effort into this practice for a couple of weeks you will definitely begin to recognize your intuitive response mechanism, and be able to know the difference between real intuition and a variety of other responses. And with more practice you'll learn to trust yourself.

Self trust and a willingness to follow your own intuition process will change your life in ways you can't imagine. Put this challenge to the test and see for yourself.
