Characteristics of the Zodiac Mercury in Aries

Apr 14, 2008
The Sun is given the most credit when it comes to the zodiac. It is the information people give out when someone else asks "what's your sign?" But the other planets of the zodiac have importance that shouldn't be thrown away. Mercury influences how a person thinks and how that is portrayed to the outside world. Learning, communication and expression are all housed here. It also dictates whether a person moves through life with a strong sense of direction or a tendency to detour.

Those who have their moon in Aries are original thinkers who can make decisions and be forthright. They possess a sharp, intellectual mind that can process things quickly. This person doesn't like to slow down for any reason and obstacles in their path that might slow their forward momentum will not be appreciated and usually will be met with frustration. This need for speed can translate into speech and mannerisms. They are likely to participate (or watch) sports that have an element of speed- such as car races. It is equally likely that there have been speeding tickets handed to this person at some point in their life. They have things they want to do and they need to do them now. Patience is not a virtue that this sign can list next to their name.

All of this energy makes it hard for this mind to stay in one spot for too long. They make decisions quickly, almost impulsively and are unlikely to backtrack to make a correction. This can appear to be egotism to those around this person. Temper and their need for control also need to be kept in check if they want to work well around others. This person should never be put in a position of organizing a team to complete a project. Team work in general isn't something they want to waste their time on since it would be easier (and faster) for them to solve the problem on their own.

Their speech demonstrates the quick wit associated with this sign. There is little chance that anything will slip by them without a comment. Invention comes easily to them and their unusual solutions to novel problems will almost always work. But if the problem takes carefully detailed work doled out over a long period of time, this is not the best person to assign to that task. They will glance at the situation, make an assessment and spit out an answer before the project leader has even finished speaking. And, infuriatingly, they will normally be right.

On the raceway that is life, the person who's Mercury in Aries is the championship driver. They are comfortable with high speeds, quick maneuvers, hair pin turns and bumping others out of the race gently if it is needed. There won't be a victory lap when a goal is accomplished. Until their life is over, this person will always have a new challenge to chase down. As the saying goes, they are truly in it to win it.
