The right time to hire a landscaper would be if you don't have a "green thumb" and you aren't going to have any time to devote to removing the old landscape and then planting the new one. There are some specific steps that need to be taken care of first in order to prevent any soil erosion so that you'll need at least a weekend of hard work.

Landscapers fees are not cheap but it's likely you can find one at a reasonable cost depending on how big of an area you need done and how much of the labor you intend to do yourself. If you're going to maintain the area yourself, you will save a lot of your hard-earned money as well.

There are numerous types of software programs on the market today that can help you design a landscape of your own. You will need to input the shape and size of your yard and then select the kind of terrain based on the climate that you live in.

What's the Best Way to Decide Which Type of Plan to Use?

The kind of plant that you select will depend upon the type of climate and how much you want to water it. It will also depend on the amount of sun your yard receives during the daytime. For instance, some plants will thrive in the shade will other types will wilt.

For those people who live in areas that are prone to drought, they should probably consider planting hardy plants that need very little water and actually help to conserve the soil from becoming rooted. Numerous individuals choose to have rock gardens and cactuses if they live in desert like climates.

The ideal planting season is mostly dependent upon what kind of plant you are looking to grow. The best time to plant bulbs is in the fall so that they will have time to root. Other types of plants are best suited to planted in the months of spring.

There are some plants that won't produce any type of fruits and flowers until one or two seasons later so you need to prepare for this. Trees will typically need several years prior to them becoming large enough to provide adequate shade or bear any type of fruit.
