Saltwater and salt air can cause these parts to corrode, which in turn will badly damage the equipment. It can cause lines to break and reels to not work property making you miss out on a lot of chances to have a productive day on the water. Saltwater tackle is designed to be protected from the damage this type of environment causes and will help make your equipment last for a much longer time.

Stainless steel or nickel chrome is normally the material that is used in the design of saltwater tackle to help prevent corrosion. You will find a huge variety of saltwater tackle available ranging from ultra-lightweight rods and reels to the heavy and large tackle that angler's use for deep-sea fishing. Keep in mind that it is recommended that you take the time to clean your tackle after each time you go out fishing to preserve its life much longer.

Each one of these pieces of tackle comes in numerous designs, sizes, weights and prices. Therefore, you will need a rod strong enough to endure the current and pull in those large saltwater species.

There are four types of reels which are called the spinning reel, spincast reel, fly reel and the baitcast reel. Each one of these reels is designed to work directly with a specific type of rod. For saltwater fishing you need reels that are made from stainless steel, resin or titanium so they will not corrode from the saltwater.
