Cleanse to Lose Weight and Be Healthy

Apr 22, 2008
A healthy weight loss cleanse is ideal to jump start your metabolism, help you lose weight and keep it off. The diet used during a cleanse will naturally raise your metabolism and help keep it stimulated. Cleansing supplements include fiber and herbs that can help digest and eliminate built up waste. Since this extra burden on the body can be stored as excess weight or fat and can even make it difficult to lose weight, the cleanse is very important.

By understanding how metabolism works, you can more easily learn how to work with your body to raise your metabolism and keep it there. The key to this is knowing the two part definition of metabolism, so let's start here. To put it simply, metabolism is defined as how well your body assimilates nutrients and how well your body eliminates waste.

The first part of metabolism is how well your body assimilates nutrients. This process is dependent on strong digestion, since this is what breaks down food particles. Nutrients are more easily extracted from the smaller particles allowing for better absorption into the blood stream. We can take some simple steps to be sure our digestion is working at its best.

The first stage of digestion happens in the mouth. Enzymes found in saliva start the digestive process and get the food ready to be further broken down later in the digestive tract. It is interesting to note that if food isn't properly chewed (and mixed with saliva), it will not be properly digested later. Also, eat while relaxed to ensure your saliva is full of enzymes, as the more stressed we are, the less enzymes we are likely to have.

Start your digestive process each day by eating one or two pieces of raw fruit in the morning. Begin lunch and your evening meals with a green, raw salad. The fruit you start your day with will help your body's natural cleansing process and stimulate your natural digestive enzymes. The green salads used to start your later meals will add to and stimulate your own natural digestive enzymes, preparing it for the meal ahead.

And lastly, to stimulate digestion, don't overeat. When we overeat, we tax the digestive system and can even shut it down. By eating appropriate portions, your body is better able to break down the foods and move them through. Try eating 1 cup servings of each veggies (2-3 per meal), 1 cup only of starches or grains and a protein serving the size of your palm.

Now take your cleansing supplements to break down waste that can accumulate in your body. This excess waste can be stored as extra weight and fat. Using fibers found in cleansing supplements will help break this down quicker for more noticeable results during your weight loss cleanse. This is important for helping you raise the second stage of metabolism - how well your body eliminates waste. Even if you think your system is efficient, think of this, an efficient system will eliminate waste, not store it as excess weight.
