A Rewarding Vacation In Wuhan

Apr 24, 2008
The assembling of three smaller cities-Hankou, Hanyang and Wuchang makes the land of Wuhan with each city separated from the other by a river. Hankou is bustling with business activities and it is located in the northwest with the Chang (Yangtze) River separating it from Wuchang and the Han River separating it from Hanyang.

Wuchang is mainly a place devoted to education centers possessing a variety of universities, institutes and colleges. It is divided from both Hankou and Hanyang by the Chang River. Industries are the major presence in the city of Hanyang, which boasts of dozens of pollution-creating industries. It is divided from Hankou by the Han River and from Wuchang by the Chang River.

The most sought after tourist attraction in Wuhan is Yellow Crane Tower, a modern construction set up on the site of five previous embodiments. It is regarded as one of the four great towers in China. The tower is placed over Snake Hill near the Number One Chang (Yangtze) River Bridge and provides a stunning view of the Chang River as well as the mouth of the Han River where it joins. The view can be extremely compelling based on local smog conditions. On a clear day, one can witness almost the entire city of Wuhan as well as the whole length of the Chang River.

Access to the park costs 50RMB which gives access to Snake Hill Park, Yellow Crane Tower and the Mao Pavilion. The Mao Pavilion has many of the poems of Chairman Mao etched into stone for enjoyable viewing. The park consists of many charming buildings and all these combine to give it an excellent outlook.

The major attractions include the enormous bronze bell situated behind Yellow Crane Tower and it also has a teahouse on the premises which convenes regular performances of traditional Chu-era music. The performance is open to everyone, but it is anticipated that patrons relishing it order at least a beverage or a small snack.

Wuhan also offers you numerous other options which can make your visit truly worthy. Jiqing Street, a relatively quite place on day time, all of a sudden transforms its quite image by night into a perplexing maze of street side restaurants and buskers dishing out music, dance, opera and stand-up comedy. It is an indispensable experience.

Food is aplenty and inexpensive, and it includes a lot of unique local cuisine. You can enjoy the performances by proxy as performers deliver for other tables or they can be purchased. It costs you about 10RMB per song delivered. Other performances depend more on contributions-the more you offer, the longer the performance lasts and the more enchanting the routines will be.

Another popular place that can provide you a memorable experience is Jianghan Road, a pedestrian mall about as long as Shanghai's famous East Nanjing Road. While it is day time it will afford you an interesting look at violent consumerism in China's rapidly-progressing middle class. From 7PM onwards at night, the mall is not entirely different but is fattened on each side by a night market comprising of thousands of little stalls offering you almost anything you can imagine: makeup, souvenirs, clothing, house wares, food, music, movies, etc.

I don't know whether anybody needs a better invitation than this for visiting a destination!
