Motion Detectors, Installation & How They Work

Apr 24, 2008
It is almost impossible for any government of any nation to completely curb the crime, as most of the times, it is not due to need; rather it is due to inclinations and habits of the thieves and robbers to attempt a burglary or theft. These intruders often commit such crimes out of sheer pressure to fulfill their enjoyment and to satisfy their instinct of accomplishing the challenges which psychologically boost them to get involved into a theft or robbery. So, instead you blame the authorities for the deteriorating law and security system, it is better that you protect your home yourself.

There are numerous security systems available in the market of security tools and appliances. And, an alarm system is a nice choice to provide extra security for your residential and commercial premises. So, protect your family, valuables, and belongings by installing the most modern motion detectors which work like an electronic field of fencing and raise an alarm at the time of any untoward movement in and around your premises. These motion detectors spot the movement in the area which has been enclosed by the security sensors. The high frequency radio wave signals are transmitted by the motion detectors in the event of any intrusion in your premises which alerts the neighbors and watchmen of any possible intrusion.

There are technically different types of motion detectors available in the market, which are listed under:

Infrared Sensors

This technology uses the infrared light to detect any heat changes in the covered area. In case a person or animal moves in the range of motion sensor, it detects the movement through the heat of the body and raises an alarm. However, the heat of humans is preset in these alarms so as to allow the alerts only at a time when a human activity is detected by the infrared lights. The infrared sensors are cheaper than the microwave sensors and ultrasonic sensors. Practically, the infrared sensors are very reliable and efficient to protect your premises.

Vibrating sensors

A movement of any person or animal is detected through the vibrations. This sort of alarming system is installed in the cars to alert the owner regarding a bumping into the car.

Photoelectric Sensors

This kind of sensor uses a more advanced technology using the laser and photoelectric beams. The laser is thrown across a room or area. In case of any intrusion by a person or animal the laser beam gets interrupted which enables the alarm system to get activated and alerts everyone around.

Ultrasonic Sensors

This technology involves use of 30 kHz frequency of sound waves. The transmitter bounces the waves on walls, windows, furniture, and the ceilings. Once the room gets stabilized, the alarm system is activated.

Acoustic Sensors

This technology can detect the energy produced by any type of sound. In the event of a sound either a door or window rattling, the alarm detects the motion through the sound produced and alerts the owner of a possible invasion.

These motion detectors can be installed in and outside premises as suitable to the requirements of the premises. These motion detectors can be attached to various surveillance system technologies providing the system to record the images only at the times when a motion is detected by the sensors. These motion detectors can also be attached to the outdoor motion light systems to allow the lights flash only at the time of any invasion detected by the sensors. So, you can use these motion detectors to make your house and office well guarded and protected from any kind of intrusions.
