Get Some Personal Training For Camp Pendletons Mud Run

Apr 26, 2008
The annual Camp Pendleton Mud Run is one of the most well known events in southern California running culture. This diverse obstacle course is not only a run and endurance test, but the messy nature of mud, and the rugged terrain of Camp Pendleton make it one of the most challenging events to participate in, often times prompting serious athletes to train throughout the year. San Diego personal trainers can help local athletes achieve their fitness goals with specialized programs to get ready for the highly anticipated race.

From in the gym workouts to outdoor training and even nutritional health plans, personal training has become a vast category that many successful athletes take advantage of. For those serious athletes looking to train and gear up for the strenuous obstacle course, all terrain run and overall extreme sporting event conditions the Camp Pendleton Mud race is known for, personal trainers in San Diego can help create a program to achieve those goals. Like many other events in the running, fitness and sporting world, planning a training season and health regimen is recommended for top results and often times, hiring a professional is the best bet to help individuals prepare for whatever challenge awaits.

There are many reasons this race is so popular with athletes from surrounding San Diego areas, and even people who travel from afar to participate. Since the Camp Pendleton Mud Run is in June, this could be a great way to jump start a summer vacation, because after the race, participants surely deserve some rest and relaxation. The actual course for the Camp Pendleton Mud Run is close to four miles in distance, and offers a wide variety of terrain. Contestants run up hills and down, along trails, and through an obstacle course with tire obstacles, river crossings, and walls several feet high with mud on both sides. There are also tunnel crawls, a slippery hill climb and lastly, of course the thirty foot mud pit. Many a San Diego fitness coach participates in this event, and those who do well take the time to train before hand.

Although the race is sold out and usually sells out fast each year due to its popularity, those who did manage to register on time and are seeking a San Diego fitness coach or personal trainer can easily find one. As for the competition specifics, people can compete solo according to age divisions or in the 5 person group category. Competitors can also choose between the Open category, which has no clothing or footwear restricts, or the Boots and Utilities category in which regulation military boots and camouflage trousers must be worn.

With six water stops along the way, contestants will stay hydrated all the way through one of the most challenging and fun races southern California has to offer.
