Did you know that there are specific dog breeds that can't do a lot of jumping? Basically, dog agility training should be made according to breed, age and health condition of the dog. Make sure you research this area thoroughly or ask a professional dog trainer.

Teaching your dog agility is not an overnight course. Basically it takes time and requires a lot of patience on the part of the trainer. You will also need to have access to certain agility training equipment and agility training supplies.

Chances are that most of the agility training equipment will be provided by the trainer at the agility course, if you decide to hire a trainer, but you might need some agility home build equipment and agility supplies to practice the agility exercises and agility drills at home. Don't be disappointed with your dog if it cannot perform a task like not being able to jump higher. Instead of putting the burden and pressure on the dog, ask yourself what's wrong with the way you are handling the training.

Do not ever use fixed bars or structures during training as this might injure your dog. For jumping, use a bar with somebody holding the other end with the other end free so as not to harm your dog if ever he cannot clear the bar. Always try to think of any possible areas wherein your dog might get hurt and act on it before it is too late.

Dogs are like us humans. We have good moods and we have bad moods and so do dogs. You have to understand this situation and act accordingly to address them. Giving them food and letting them rest might do the trick.

The usual motivation in dog training is by giving them food every time they accomplish a given task. If they fail, you still give them food but in a much smaller amount than if they successfully passed a task. Like for example, the day the dog does not do very well, you might decide to not give him any additions treats. This will make them understand the benefit of doing a task correctly. Praise and pat your dog on its head; that will make him feel good every time he finishes a task. Food, however, is the most effective factor in motivating dogs.
