Look Like an LA Celelbrity with Juicy Couture Handbags

May 6, 2008
In 1994, Pamela Kaist-Levy and Gela Taylor founded a company called Travis Jeans. It specialized in maternity wear, including comfortable jeans for pregnant women. Later, Travis Jeans would transform in to Juicy Couture.

The pair first met in a Los Angeles clothing store. Taking a bunch of old Levi jeans and $200 worth of elastic, they created their first line of maternity jeans. Melanie Griffith was soon seen wearing them and the product become hot property.

In 1999, Juicy Couture began making their trademark cloth and cashmere tracksuits, with low-riding drawstrings and zip-up hoodies. Coming in pastel colors, it was designed to show off a woman's curves with the "Juicy" printed on the rear.

Considered the very first "sexy tracksuit" with celebrity appeal, it ensures that you look like you've just been to the gym with Madonna. In fact, Juicy Couture's success has been due to the use of celebrity power. As Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Britney Spear began to be photographed wearing their tracksuits, Juicy Couture was catapulted into designer status.

The company's advertising relies exclusively on celebrities. Juicy gives free lines of clothing to celebrities and let their photographs in magazine do the rest.

In 2003, Liz Claiborne bought the company for $53 million. It is now one of Claiborne fastest growing brands, with revenues quadrupling. Skaist-Levy and Taylor still remain as co-presidents of the company.

The Range of Juicy Handbags

What would a celebrity do in LA without a handbag to keep their rsmall dog in? The Juicy Couture Embroidered Terry Pet Satchel comes with leather-trims, mesh windows and a comfy interior cushion to cater for all your dogs needs.

With textured leather shaped into a softly pleated bowler style, the 'Link Tycoon' Bowler Bag comes with a chunky chain and logo detail at the front.

Or if a more fun LA celebrity look is what you are after, Juicy Couture 'Daisy - Baby Fluffy' Bag is an embroidered terry satchel with wooden beads, logo charms, leather piping and buckled handles.
