Causes on Why Women Have Hair Loss Revealed Here

May 9, 2008
When certain things aren't taken care of regularly it can go bad quick. The same is true when it comes to your hair as well. If a good amount of individual attention is not given, it will soon lead to damaged hair and quite possibly the loss of your hair. While both genders both have hair loss problems, more and more women are reporting some sort of hair thinning or hair loss than ever before. There are many factors that can actually impact how hair grows or if it grows at all. The reasons that are playing a dominating in hair loss are: Hormones, Genetics, Medications or drugs, any possible deficiencies in nutrition, and the Environment. Women's hair styles have shown to be destructive due to the methods used to achieve certain hairstyles. Methods like highlights, hot oil treatments, and perms stress the hair causing serious damage over time. Overall poor hygiene can even play an important part in a woman experiencing excessive thinning of hair or hair loss.

Let's start by discussing what factors can cause damage to hair follicles. There are several different kinds of factors that contribute to hair loss and damage They include, but aren't limited to, women's hair style, perms, highlights, hot oil treatments, and poor hygiene. Each factor can devastate your hair and may result in irreversible damage. Hot oil treatments, for example, are beneficial for women who are plagued with dry hair and scalp but the hot oil used can cause the hair follicle to become inflamed. This can then lead to scarring and permanent hair loss. Also, the piggy tails you put your child's hair up into is actually pulling their hair too tight to the point of hair loss. It can cause scarring of the scalp and thus leave the hair follicles permanently damaged. This damage will then block the hair from growing forever.

Brushes used can also cause damage to your hair. That is mainly due to no one having the same texture of hair. Therefore, when you brush your hair with a flair styler brush it may cause your hair to become frizzy, contain tangles or even split dead ends. Using a cushion brush with healthy hair there isn't any static or frizz that usually occurs with unhealthy hair. As long as split ends are not a problem for you, a vent brush is a great choice. One set back is that if you do have split ends it is possible to worsen damage to your hair resulting in frizzy and unmanageable hair. Combs are also good to use with hair that isn't too damaged.

Secondly, let's discuss other factors that are known to play a part in hair loss.

1. Genetics

Recent advances in genetic research have allowed scientists to grab hold of new tools with which to learn more about how genetics may cause hair loss in some women.. Heredity will always play a big role when it comes to hair growth problems. If your direct relatives are thinning or balding, you are pretty much certain to experience the same as them.

The good news is that if you recognize your genetics and plan for inevitable hair loss by devising a treatment plan, you can help prevent hair loss by retaining and re-growing your hair. There are many treatment options available these days for you to consider.

2. Hormones

Another reason people lose their hair is their hormones. One thing though is that it isn't hormones themselves but more when hormone levels are out of sync. Pregnant women are the perfect example of hormone levels going through fluctuations. That is because during pregnancy their hair is becomes thicker and more beautiful. Then once they give birth, hair begins falling out in excessively. Hormones during this period are completely out of alignment. Of course the hair thinning stops once hormone levels are back to normal.

Checking and adjusting fluctuations hormone levels is sometimes all a person needs to aid in preventing hair loss. The best thing you can do for yourself is to talk with your doctor about your hair loss. Extensive blood work can be performed to rule out any possible reasons for your hair loss. And if there is a medical reason for the problem, the proper treatment will more often than not correct the problems being experienced.

3. Medications or Drugs

Though illegal drugs can damage your hair, which included sudden hair loss, a number of of doctor-prescribed drugs may also factor into the sudden loss of hair in some women. Research has made note of certain drugs that tend to cause sudden women's hair loss, which include Nexium, Accutane for acne, most anti-coagulants containing Wafarin, a large portion anti-depressants, and many Anti-convulsants (typically given for epilepsy).

As rare of an occurrence as it may be, you should perhaps still contact your doctor if you are noticing excessive hair loss. The decision is left to your doctor on whether to reduce your prescribed dose, or change your medication if they think it is the direct cause of your hair loss.

4. The Surrounding Environment

A major cause of dangerous estrogen production in the body is pollution. you will need to improve your body's ability to neutralize the pollution before it causes the production of estrogen, unless you plan on moving away from all major cities. For stopping the effects of pollution, you will most likely need to have your liver detoxified. Cleanse options are abundant and it is advised that you do a liver cleanse on aconsistent basis.

5. Nutritional Deficiencies

Being nutritionally deficient also has some people losing their hair. For example, hair loss is one of the symptoms of anorexia and bulimia because of the excessive lack of nutrients. However your deficiency isn't defined by severity, for you will still notice a difference in your hair with just a slight case of nutritional deficiency.

This is why you will find supplements on the market designed just for hair health. Even if you feel you're not deficient in any nutrients, these supplements can help accelerate growth and strengthen your hair. Another thing to consider regarding nutritional deficiencies is what kind of food you are eating. Food these days have a lot of chemicals that can cause the production of estrogen, which can also have an impact on whether or not you experience hair loss. Making sure to incorporate a low carbohydrate/high protein diet in your daily regime, will help combat hair loss. Liver detox will also help to neutralize the chemicals found in food, but a much better way is to avoid chemicals in food by eating more organic foods.

In regards to taking care of your hair, you very well may need to utilize more natural methods on which to avoid damaged hair and scalp, or possible follicle inflammation. You can use things such as lemons to provide your hair with highlights, olive oil for moisture, and aloe vera can actually be used for hair conditioning. Other all natural products can purchased at any health food store. However, you should see your physician if you have the belief that your hair is abnormally thinning or if there is noticeable hair loss. Consulting your doctor will make sure that it isn't due to any medical problems. While eliminating medical causes you can also discuss treatment options that will best help with your specific hair loss problems. There are many ways in which to treat hair loss including applying the use of natural supplements, topical formulas, and prescription medication. Hair transplants, along with many other options are available as well.
