Pocketing Kings And Ace High Flop

May 14, 2008
What to do with kings on an ace high flop.

Pocketing the kings in the Ladbrokes poker game will definitely ensure a tight grip over the game. Though, this is a secondary tactic in respect to the poker match, but as they say, "no stones should be left unturned. " Therefore, an intelligent player will always try to be aggressive and attacks from the word "go", giving genuine challenge to other players.

But the problem associated with Ladbrokes poker pocket kings is aces. Tackling the flops that come on in way of aces create difficulties in the long run when trying to take down a pot with the "cowboys." But the three main problems faced while pocketing kings are: (1) They do not create a heads up pot going into the flop, (2) they play the hand too weak, fearing that the opponent player has as ace, and (3) they refuse to lay down their kings even when it becomes fairly apparent that they no longer have the best hand.

Although this is a tricky situation to be in the context of the game, but it is definitely not the end of the road. One important aspect that all Ladbrokes poker players should remember, especially while playing pocket kings, is to keep the momentum of the game by raising the kings. Premium starting hands will often become vulnerable to many different flops and while holding pocket kings an ace on the board will only complicate the situation.

Multi-way flops are very dangerous with high pairs. Therefore, a strong raise is needed to engage in a heads up pot. At times, amateur and professional players fear to re-raise, anticipating a fold around minimizing their big hand. But when a call is in front it becomes a necessity.

So, how actually does pocketing kings benefit a player? Well, Stu Ungar once said "The only thing aces are good for is winning small pots or losing big ones", and that is what actually happens at this juncture of the Ladbrokes poker game. It is often a common problem with most poker players as they start playing a defensive game with their kings after an ace hits on the flop.

To remedy this, the kings should be played in a manner so that a vulnerable top pair flopped. This method allows the player to pick up more pots, especially rewarding when the opponent does hold an ace, but preflop aggression and follow up betting may lead them to fold an ace with a mediocre kicker.

As the Ladbrokes poker game proceeds, a player should start analyzing every move of the opponent and yet play an attacking game until other players gives a reason to believe that they have kings to beat. But the main hurdle at this point is "No Limit Hold'em". Often players do not understand that a top pair can lose a showdown, though two kings might be in the hole. The best solution to this problem is folding up.

Playing pocket kings on an ace high flop is a balance between aggression, observation, and the ability to control overplays premium-starting hands. Caution mixed with aggression ensures success in Ladbrokes poker games.
