What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of Type 2 Diabetes

May 19, 2008
Type 2 diabetes is a global epidemic, silently destroying the health of hundreds of millions of individuals. It can stay hidden for many years, more often than not, it only becomes noticed when a trip to the doctors for a routine check up reveals the symptoms through an unrelated test result.

High blood sugar is the effect of poor carbohydrate metabolism and although it will not kill you instantly like some diseases, make no mistake it will kill you in the end. High blood sugar is not something you can ignore for very long. Stories of individuals having strokes or falling into comas are not uncommon.

There are classic signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes and high blood sugar that you would do well to educate yourself about and if you are currently unsure about you health, read the following to see if any of them ring any bells.

Constant thirst day and night,
no matter how much you drink.
Constant need to go to toilet.
Blurred or misty eyesight.
Poor healing, especially in your hands and feet.
Sticky teeth regardless of whether you have just cleaned them.
No energy, even first thing in the morning.
Always tired even after resting.

The above list represents the most common symptoms and if any of these sound familiar, get yourself an appointment with your doctor.

Fortunately, there is something you can actually do to alleviate the symptoms of type 2 diabetes but it involves making permanent lifestyle changes, although at first you may groan because you can no longer enjoy you large bag of potato chips. Believe me, you will feel 150% better and in the long run you will be lengthening your life span significantly.

Type 2 diabetes is merciless, it does not care who is afflicted with it, any age, any race. Respect what it is capable of and resolve to make the positive changes in your life to eradicate it.

All too often, our bad habits become ingrained from an early age and having fast food, sugar snacks, high glycemic pastries and crisps, has never really been seen as something that bad. Yet it is this very attitude that has allowed poor diet and nutrition education to slip through the net unnoticed. Education starts with the young and takes an entire life time. You dont stop learning just because school has finished. It is never too late to benefit from positive changes in diet. Obviously, the sooner you embrace these changes, the more likely you are to see results but never the less. Diet is crucial to ones health and well being. Start making the changes today.
