The Infrared Sauna - Lose Weight - Burn More Calories

May 25, 2008
If you have ever been a sauna user, you might not know that there's a new type of sauna out there called an infrared sauna. While conventional saunas use wood or electrical stoves to heat the air itself, infrared saunas use infrared heaters as the heat source.

Instead of heating the air itself, infrared saunas heat the objects and people in their proximity. However, the ambient air stays about the same temperature. This means that infrared saunas consume much less energy and are more efficient than conventional saunas are.

The air itself is not heated to the same extent that a conventional sauna is, so you can use an infrared heater no matter where you are. You can even use them outside. However, an infrared sauna will still have the same type of heating effect on your body.

With that said infrared saunas still use enclosures. The reason for this is simple, people like the feel of a traditional sauna, and due to habit - when it comes to saunas we feel the need to get into one rather than sit outside. However you do not have to have an enclosure if you chose not to.

Infrared itself is actually a type of light frequency that you can't see with your eyes. Infrared heat is also called infrared radiation, or IR. Infrared radiation is very different from ultraviolet radiation, which can give you sunburn, and is also different from atomic radiation such as that which might occur in nuclear war.

You might not know that you're already very familiar with infrared radiation, as this is how the earth is heated; in this case, the infrared radiation warming the earth comes from the sun. Even your body exudes infrared radiation. Enthusiasts of infrared saunas say that these types of saunas can give you even more benefits over a conventional sauna.

In actual fact infrared saunas are similar to regular saunas in that they both make you sweat and sweating as you know helps you to release toxins. They can also help with other physical challenges such as arthritis. Additionally infrared radiation is said to have unique healing qaulities.

Those who support infrared radiation state that this technology can penetrate deeper into the body all the way to the muscles tissues and internal organs. By doing so it further enables toxins to be released which strengthens the immune system. As a result of which you burn more, lose weight and improve your complexion at the same time.
