Creating a Website

May 26, 2008
It wasn't so long ago that creating websites was the domain of the computer nerd or programmer. The internet was much slower in the early days and you needed an understanding of HTML before you could attempt to build a website.

Dreamweaver had not been invented yet, so building websites took a huge amount of time and effort. It was not something to be entered into lightly as it it was a very challenging for the inexperienced.

Thankfully those days are well and truly over. Nowadays pretty much anyone can create a website, and for those who wish to publish or market on the internet it is a neccessity. Blogging is a phenomenon that is growing by thousands daily.

If you have not learned to make your own website, you have some catching up to do. After all, sites such as My Space and Live Journal make it so easy that people who are complete novices on the Internet are doing it.

I built my first website just a few months ago. I kept telling people that I was to busy to waste my time messing around on my computer. Truth be told, I thought I wasn't capable of producing a website as good as some of the others that I'd seen.

Some of my friends were creating some really professional looking websites, and my one definately didn't look as good, quite basic if I'm honest, but I kept at it anyway.

When I got in action, I found that making a website wasn't very hard at all. There was so much free Web hosting that I had a variety of options available. It wasn't expensive, and I certainly didn't need programming or html knowledge! You can make a website with some basic functionality and content, sharing your photographs and your blogs, in about 10 minutes.

If building a website is something you would like to try, it isn't to difficult. It's also a great way to meet new people online and perhaps make new friends.
