Clean Carpets Make Great First Impressions

May 28, 2008
Wonderful! Your out of town family wants to visit you next week. "No problem! We'd love to have you and the baby come visit!" you reply enthusiastically. But as you take a look around your home, you realize that your visitors might be less than impressed with what they see. The house seems a little dreary, and you don't have time to paint. Carpet cleaning takes only a small amount of time, however. So, to improve the look and smell of your home, clean your carpets.

You have several options for cleaning the carpet. Buying foam spray-on shampoo, the kind that comes in a can, is possibly the fastest and cheapest method. Spray on the foam and then spread it around with a damp mop. After it loosens up the dirt and dries, you just vacuum it up. This works fine for treating specific spots, but it doesn't do so well in getting a whole house fresh and clean.

Another option that many people decide upon is the residential electric carpet cleaner. A residential electric carpet cleaner sprays a cleaning solution onto the carpet and then suctions it up. However, the cleaning solution is only slightly better than the spray-on foam, and the machine isn't really strong enough to pull the water back out of the carpet. A person can very easily allow too much water to soak the carpet and pad. You should give your carpets plenty of time to dry.

The carpet cleaning machines that you can find at your grocery store contain a little more power for sucking up water. Unfortunately the equipment is often returned without being thoroughly cleaned and is rented, unknowingly, in a soiled condition. Besides, it's such a hassle loading the equipment in and out of the car and house that you'll wish you had professionals come in to take care of it.

The best option is to pay for a professional carpet cleaner. A method of hot water extraction is used by several professional carpet cleaners wherein the cleaned solution is heated and applied under pressure. Then the water is extracted and sucked away using powerful motors. In the hot water extraction method, the pressure is so great that the carpet will not dry up easily and the soap residue, along with left-over water, will act as a breeding ground for mold.

Chem-Dry's carpet cleaning techniques are a cut above the rest. A low-pressure applicator, using a patented carbonating cleaner, will release millions of bubbles to lift dirt and grime, whisking it away forever. All the foreign matter embedded in the carpet like allergens, chemicals, pet dander, and bacteria will all be removed. Due to the carbonation, less water is needed, resulting in your carpet drying quickly.

Cleaning your carpet is a big step in preparing for the arrival of company. With a clean carpet, you will make a great first impression!
