Reykjavk is known as the largest city and capital of Iceland. The city's latitude is at 6408' N which makes this city the most northern capital of the world. Reykjavik is situated in the South West portion of Iceland and along the Faxafli Bay's southern shore. It has a population of approximately 119,000. This region was established by Inglfur Arnarson during the 1870s. Initially, Reykjavik is considered as the first and permanent settlement of Iceland. In its history, Reykjavik had no municipal development in its city location until the year 1870. This place was founded and developed in 1786 after being the official trading city which has grown steadily throughout several decades. After which, the city has been transformed from an official trading centre to a regional one. Then, later on, it geared its close attention on the National Centre for governmental activities' commerce and population.

At present, Reykjavk is popular for being at the centre of Greater Reykjavk Area that holds a population that numbers to about 200,000. It is also the sole metropolitan area in the country of Iceland. Included in the least developed and progressing countries, this highly urbanized capital lets its inhabitant's posses a superior welfare system as well as a city type of infrastructure.
