Tattoos - Where Should You Tattoo If You Want The Least Pain

May 30, 2008
Usually people who are thinking of getting a tattoo are often concerned as to which part of the body is most likely to hurt when you get a tattoo and which area is likely to hurt the least. It is a very normal question and one which may be very hard to answer because people and their pain thresholds differ.

A lot of people tend to agree that the arm is the place that you will experience the least pain and which will give you the best positioning for a tattoo. It is simply about getting your tattoo in a place that contains the most muscle and which will absorb the tattooing needle better, this way you experience less pain. Areas where you are likely to experience the most pain are areas with a high level of nerve concentration and erogenous zones such as the inner thigh and areas which are directly over bone such as the ankles.

Most agree that the arm is the absolute easiest place to get a tattoo. Basically places that contain the most muscle will absorb the needle better and as a result will be the places which will hurt the least. The places that hurt more than usual are areas of either high nerve concentration, erogenous zones like inner thigh or areas right over bone like the ankle.

Some areas which hurt a lot such as the ribcage are usually chosen by those who have a lot more experience in getting tattoos, if it is your first tattoo and you are rather uncomfortable with the prospect of having to bear pain, you can stick with getting tattoos on fleshier locations such as your arm or your leg. When getting tattoos, you should try your best not to concentrate on where tattoos will hurt the most but how great your artwork will look on you when it is finished.

The location where a tattoo will hurt the most is considered by a variety of factors but the less sensitive the skin in that area is, then the less the tattoo should hurt. People who get tattoos usually describe the experience as something that is rather irritating due to the consistent pin pricks. People who have a great deal of experience as far as tattoos are concerned usually maintain that the least sensitive areas are those more exposed to the external elements. If you get tattoos in these areas then these tattoos are less likely to hurt.

At other times, the amount of pain which is experienced will be determined by the artist who creates the tattoo. Certain tattoo artists are rather heavy handed and this tends to make the pain a lot more intense, other tattoo artists are rather graceful which makes the experience a pleasurable one.

What one person finds hurtful can be simply annoying to another person. The level of hurt which is experienced will also depends on a persons own tolerance level for pain. Some people are more sensitive to pain than others.

A lot of people have compared the pain of getting tattoo with a case of bad sunburn or being stung by bees but it is important to not that the pain does not necessarily last as long as most of these conditions. The way you feel physically as a person will determine the way you take the tattooing process.

If you are having a bad day you might want to hold off the idea of getting a tattoo, the thing is that if you feel distracted or aggravated, you are really going to get pissed off when you get started with your tattoo.
