Six Steps To Ensure Success In Your Online Business

Starting an online business and then building it up is not only very challenging, but it can also be very frustrating as well. With 95% of internet marketers failing, there must be something that they are doing wrong and something that the 5% of successful marketers are doing right. Apart from not quitting, there are certain steps that successful people carry out to bring them closer to their goals. If you follow the steps consistently, you will succeed and it does not matter if you initially don't know how to reach that goal. These are the steps below.

1. Know where you are.
2. Know where you want to be.
3. Take action.
4. Evaluate the results of that action.
5. Refine your action.
6. Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5.

1. Actually write down all your strengths and weaknesses as they relate to running an online business. For example, have you any web design experience, have you done any marketing, and how much money and time can you "invest" each week in your business? Do you have access to training, support, mentors, or materials that will help you reach your goal? List everything so that you know where you are starting from.

2. Write down where you want to be in 6 months, 12 months, 2 years and 5 years from now. In other words: your goals; how much money do you want to be making each month; do you want to have a part time or full time online business; what do you want to sell online. Be realistic with setting your goals, but then don't sell yourself short either. You have to realise that other people have achieved massive success, so there is no reason why you can't achieve big goals as well. Be specific when writing down your goals because you can only hit your target if you can "see" it properly.

3. Successful people gather information and facts, make a decision quickly and then take action immediately. The big advantage with this method is that it allows you to get feedback straight away, to take corrective action as required and to see other possibilities and resources. People that fail will usually gather information, try to decide, gather more facts, procrastinate and then not take any action. Or they will eventually take action, make a mistake and then give up after the first attempt.

Here's a little secret for you. Successful people often don't know how they are going to reach their goal either, but they just take the best action that they can and that gets the momentum started. ANY action is always better than no action. So write down your goal, break that down into more detailed action steps and get started immediately. Don't worry if you're not sure how to reach your goal because as you move forward, the picture will become clearer as you go. Where you can, always try to model the actions of other successful people that have already achieved what you want.

4. Now that you have done the above steps, you can evaluate the results of that action. What worked and what didn't work? If something worked, then just keep doing that some more.

5. Next step is to refine your action to make it work better. If something isn't working, consider what changes you could make to your strategy to make it better. Or it could be that you need to dump that method completely and try something new. Whatever it is, decide on your new course of action, and then act on it immediately. Remember, the sooner you can get feedback, the better.

6. Keep repeating steps 3, 4 and 5 until you hit your target. Quitting is not an option. You have to stay in the game if you want to realise the results.

Don't be fooled by the simplicity of these steps. If you actually apply the steps to any skill that you want to learn, any goal that you want to achieve or to your online business, you will succeed. If you dismiss the steps, you will just keep getting what you've always gotten, and that is nothing.
