Digital Wedding Photographs Are Superior

Jun 4, 2008
The bride and groom are usually so busy on their wedding day that without photos to remind them, many of the days special events could fade over time or even forgotten. The vast majority of couples arrange for a professional digital wedding photographer to capture this most important day. Some people will prefer to have the photos made into a CD or DVD rather than an album of still images.

Most wedding photographers have assistants to help them create beautiful wedding albums that will be oh so memorable but if you yourself want to take pictures of a friend's wedding, who will help you? Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations wedding taking photos with your digital camera.

Many amateur photographers make the mistake of taking pictures with a boring background which is not something you want in a wedding photo. Often when there is a good background there are just too many people in the shot, so if this is the situation, just try and get close and capture a nice head and shoulders shot of the couple. This will eliminate a cluttered photo.

Spectacled guests can be a problem as glare from their glasses obscures their eyes and reflects back at the camera. So you could ask them to take their glasses off for the photo, or to turn there heads to the side. To avoid people in the picture coming out dark when the sunlight is behind them, position them where you are taking the photo with the sun behind you.

Where possible, try to capture shots that are natural and candid as these always look the best when viewed later; one way to do this is to use the cameras zoom feature. You should be alert at all times when shooting digital wedding photography since you can seldom ask people to keep posing for you and the day about spontaneity, and good things pop up all of the time.

Probably the most important thing to remember with digital cameras is to have plenty of memory in your camera plus fresh batteries and the best way to ensure this is to always carry spares. For 6 mega pixel cameras and up, the absolute bare minimum should be a 1 gigabyte card, preferably 2 gigabytes and always use the highest resolution your camera can manage if the images are to be printed.

If you intend to have the pictures blown up to a large size you will need to ensure your cameras resolution is set to maximum. Storing the wedding images on a computer or CD will mean that you can print them off whenever you want. You can also make a presentation CD or DVD with music that can be played when ever desired.

If you are interested in learning digital wedding photography as a profession, you should enroll in a college and become an expert in this field. Often business is gained by word of mouth so you may just become one of the most popular digital wedding photographers in your area.
