Comic Books Can No Longer Contain Their Super Characters

Jun 4, 2008
If you haven't read a comic book lately, you can probably remember a time when you did. Whether we admit it or not, we all love the basic idea of the comic book: the good guys, the bad guys, the justice...and the Super heroes.

Evidently the media is aware of the general public's love of the "super" because they are systematically running through all the comic book super heroes from most popular on down to pretty popular and reinventing them on the big screen.

And we don't just love the super we get in our random does of comic books or movies...most of us have the super in our day to day lives. The majority of the general public may visit an old time corner store now and then and feel like they miss the good old days, but their day to day habits work in direct opposition to their nostalgia. There are enough people willing to shop at the nearest super store that they make a profit even though they are right there on every corner every time anyone turns around.

Why do we do this to ourselves? We do it because it's convenient.

We might have high ideals and theories about the way it should be, but when it comes right down to it and we have one hour in which to obtain four 60 watt light bulbs, a gallon of white interior paint, 4 avocados, a roll of Forever stamps, 3 bags of crushed ice, toilet paper, Nyquil, 2 slushies for the kids, a box of copy paper, a gift for the neighbor kid's birthday party, shampoo, fresh flowers, bread, crayons, a new mystery novel, a greeting card, milk and snacks for the kids' lunches; we don't want to visit 6 different stores. We don't have the time or the inclination. So we go super.

It's not just you and me, either. It would seem that a vast majority of "them" are also frequenting the superstores. They wouldn't stay open just for the two of us.

Honda Cars of Mesa served the Valley for over 31 years. They offered a quality product and great service. But recent changes have indicated an even greater devotion to Valley consumers; they've gone Super!

They've successfully increased their reach and their customer satisfaction by going super!

They've even got an appropriate name change. Honda Cars of Mesa is now San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler. And there's more happening here than just a basic move from Mesa to Chandler.

San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler does have a new location in the San tan portion of Loop 202 and Gilbert Road in Chandler, Arizona, but that's not the only thing that's new. The now 14 acre dealership offers more cars, better service (including 44 service bays and a separate stand alone express service area), and a fancy, new, state of the art showroom housed in their 105,000 square foot building. And we're not done yet. I told you they'd gone super.

They also offer customers onsite courtesy shuttle service as well as rental car availability and extended hours of operation. Now how's that for improving what doesn't need to be improved?

So if it's not obvious to you now, it will be after you walk away and think about this for a minute...your life is super. You've got superstores that provide you with everything you want and more. You've got car dealerships that provide you with everything you want and more. The only thing better would be if the superstore and the super-dealership got together and loaded your new car with your groceries and household goods, followed you home and unloaded for you. You can suggest it; but I think I'll stick to the current super standards and continue hoping for flying cars.
