How Big Should Your Wedding Be?

Jun 13, 2008
So you have decided to get married. The next step is in fact to start planning for your wedding. You need to first of all think about your budget. What you have to bear in mind is that the size of your wedding will greatly affect the amount of money you are going to spend. As a result, you will probably need to consider the scale of your event before you actually start to plan for your wedding.

You may wonder how you should make the decision on the size of your event. Yes it can be a difficult decision for a couple. You may not really know whether you should have a big or a small wedding. In fact, you do not just make the decision randomly. You have to consider a lot of factors when you are trying to decide on this issue.

The first thing you have to consider is the guests. Here you have to understand that there are some guests you would like to invite. And at the same time there are also some guests your parents would like to invite. As a result, you need to discuss with your parents who they are going to invite. If they are only going to invite a few guests, you can consider whether you will also invite only a few guests and in this case you may consider having a small wedding. On the contrary, if you parents somehow have to invite 100 guests, it will not be quite possible for you to have a small wedding. You may be ending up with at least 150 guests in this case.

As mentioned, the size of your wedding will certainly be more expensive. Taking the above scenario of 150 guests as an example, if you are going to spend $200 on each guest, it will already become $30,000. It is not a small amount at the end of the day. And you have to prepare to spend if you are going to have a big wedding. Even if you can have some money saving methods and get some discount wedding items, you will still need to spend some money in order to host a big wedding.

On the contrary, you can spend less money if you are going to have a small wedding. Even if you are going to spend $350 on each guest, it will only cost your $7,000 if you are going to invite 20 guests. In fact, you should consider a small wedding if you would like to really enjoy the time with your closed friends and family members. It will be very difficult for you to chat with 150 people in one single night in a few hours. To this end you will know it will be more intimate to have a small wedding.

It is mainly a matter of preference when you are making the decision of the size of your wedding. Of course you will need to negotiate with your parents if the number of guests they are going to invite is not what you expect. Yet the event will certainly be a perfect one if you can take the time to plan for it.
