Article Marketing: What It Is And Why It Works

One of the best ways to help visitors find your web site is a method that's little known outside of the internet marketing world - article marketing. If you have any writing talent at all, you can use article marketing to drive hundreds or thousands of very targeted visitor to your web site. The amount of traffic that you get depends on how many articles that you write; it's up to you how much traffic you get. There is some work to it, but the rewards are great.

Here is how article marketing works. There are many business owners and website owners who like to provide regular newsletters to their customers. They send them out every week or two, and they constantly need fresh, relevent content for those newsletters. Now, most of these business owners do not want to have to spend their time writing articles, researching new topics, and coming up with ideas for articles. And they don't want to have an ongoing expense in hiring article writers to write content just for them.

There are also a lot of web site owners and blog owners who want to keep their sites regularly updated with fresh posts that are targeted to the interests of their readers. Again, these people do not want to have to spend a lot of time on writing and researching articles.

So, they go to "Article Directories" to get free articles. The only condition that they have to accept is that they must leave the article author's name on the article when they reprint it, and leave a link to the article author's web site. This benefits the person using that article, because they have a constant stream of fresh, relevent, targeted articles to use on their site, and it is free.

And of course it also benefits the person who wrote the articles, because they get publicity for their web site and they get a steady stream of traffic from the people who read their articles and click on the link to their web site. Also, when the articles first appear on the article directories web site, they will get prominent placement for a day or two and many people will go to the article directory, read the article, and then click on the article link leading to the article writer's web site.

The articles only stay on that front page of the article directory for a few days at most, so it is important to regularly submit new articles. And remember, with each new article, make sure that you include a link back to your web site. That is the main benefit of writing these articles. You don't have to be an English major or a novelist to make article marketing work for you. All that you have to do is be able to write 300-500 words about whatever niche you are seeking traffic for.

If you have a website about dog training, you could write an article about how to train your dog to fetch, or the reasons that some dogs are aggressive, and some methods on how to cure that aggressiveness. If you have a website about healthy cooking, you could write an article providing a few recipes. If you have a website about fitness, you could write an article about the most effective exercises to tone your upper arms, or how to avoid injury.

The possibilities for article ideas are endless. And once you start writing articles, you will find that more and more article ideas come to you, and the process gets easier and easier.
