Bestman Toast Long Live The Blessed Couple

Jun 14, 2008
Wedding toast include the bestman toast, the grooms toast for his wife, toasts by the father of the bride and the groom. However, the most sought after toasts among all of the above categories is the bestman toast as the grooms man seems to know more about the couple than anybody else and has more chances of speaking out things that others might not know about like how they met, their courtship period, secretive trips et al.

A bestman toasts is raised by the best man of the groom at the onset of the reception wherein he toasts to the health, prosperity and happiness of the married couple and wishes them a great and fulfilling life ahead. However, before raising a best man wedding speech toast, the grooms man must consider the following points lest he errs in front of the wedding gathering, much to the embarrassment of the newly married couple:

1. Introduction: For the wedding gathering, the grooms man may not necessarily be known to all. Therefore it is important to introduce oneself to the people assembled so that they can relate to the person and can identify his relationship with the groom or the bride or even both of them.

2.Personal: It is important to rehearse a few best man speech ideas before the toasts final delivery to avoid rambling on the D day much to the embarrassment of the couple. One must avoid reading straight from a placard as that would appear very impersonal. However, keeping one handy is acceptable. One must try to include heartfelt and emotional words in the wedding speech as well as the toast. Making a quote on the sacredness of wedding and eternal love could be a great idea

3. Acknowledgement: The grooms man must acknowledge the parents of the groom and the bride for their help in the conduct of the wedding ceremonies as well as must thank the guests for their gracious presence.

4. What to include: The best man speech ideas can include something about the relationship of the couple, how they fell in love, their common interests and preferences, how they have changed and evolved in their relationship et al. A few humorous anecdotes may be included to make the speech engaging for the audience present.

5. What not to say: The grooms man must avoid discussing anything that could prove to be embarrassing for the couple. Topics like exboyfriends and girlfriends, child planning, premarital sex should be avoided

Some quick points to remember for the best man before raising the bestman toast:

1. Remember to introduce yourself.
2. Remember who all to thank lest you are perceived to be a selfconceited ass
3. Try to include some emotional and memorable moments about the couple.
4. Include humor at various intervals unless you want your toast to be tagged as a tedious monologue and boring.
5. Remember to close the best man wedding speech toast on a happy and optimistic note by wishing the couple a happy and prosperous life in the future.

The bestman toast signals the wishes and blessings of everyone present at the wedding for the newly married couple and bestows upon them the blessings of the super lord for their eternal union in all lives to come
