Plastic Surgery Changes More Than Looks

Jun 17, 2008
Just because you could afford it doesnt mean you should go for it. A lot of celebrities have gone under the knife to fix something that wasnt wrong in the first place but they wanted to perfect only to end up looking ten times worse. when Tara Reid opted to have a lipo instead of a normal exercise, she ended up having the stomach of a wrinkly old lady, she would have been better off doing it the normal way with dieting and working out. Same with a lot of celebrities, Hillary Duff had her normal lips pimped and now she looks like a horse. Lesson? There are no instant gratification and, love your body coz its not something you can play with like clay with a surgeon.

Cosmetic surgery should be the last option for anyone who wants a physical make over and with good reasons. If you think going under the knife is tough, wait until you experience the aftermath. The after effect of cosmetic surgery is no different from a major surgery, patients are made invalid and suffer from wide range of side effects for a period of time, and as if that is not enough, the maintenance part is ever harder not to mention more expensive. So if you're thinking that liposuction is the easy way to losing weight, remember that the procedure was made to be maintained with diet and exercise after wards, so if your too lazy to do both now, forget about it.

There are two types of plastic surgery: Reconstructive and cosmetic. Reconstructive surgery from the word reconstruction deals with repair. If one had an operation that resulted to a deformation, like that of a breast cancer patient who needs to have her mammary glands back, then that is where reconstructive surgery comes in. Cosmetic surgery is the we often call vanity operation, it is done to improve physical disposition. This type of surgery has two types: Surgical and non surgical, surgical includes rhynoplasty (reshaping of the nose) breast reduction or enlargement, liposuction among others. Non surgical inclued dermabrassion (lightening of scars), laser peeling and other skin

We know that surgery is a very expensive not to mention lucrative procedure, which is why it is imperative that the public makes sure that the doctors who does them are still bounded by ethical behaviors. In the case if plastic surgeon, they should put it to themselves to make sure that they only accept patients who either have major deformities or have justified the need for a plastic surgery. It is disappointing to know that some of them no longer discourage patients from resorting to the life threatening procedure. FOr instance, how many doctors actually refer their patients to a therapist or the gym to boost self esteem the non surgical way?

Plastic surgery is often associated with vanity but for some people, it really is a serious case of reconstruction. The most famous type of plastic or cosmetic surgery is done to remedy cleft chin. Operation smile aims to uplift children's self esteem by giving them a chance to relieve themselves of their deformity through operation .Dermabrasion and laser procedures are also done to help minimize the appearance of birthmarks and scars derived from accidents. Operation smile believes that even though character trumps physical attributes anytime, it doesn't hurt to be free from major deformities. In a visual world wherein we cannot be helped but be judged with our looks, it pays to look good, or at the very least, normal.
