Moving? 3 Tips That Could Dimish Your Stress of Moving

Jun 17, 2008
Certain key elements are necessary for a successful move. Not everything goes as planned. However, with some planning and proper packing tips moving doesn't have to be a disastrous time for you and your family.

It doesn't matter if you're moving to the next town over, across the country, or moving aboard proper packing and planning is a vital part to any relocation situation. This can mean the difference of being able to handle the moving job yourself or hire professionals who are experts at properly packing and loading of your household items.

First, proper planning is so important. This is the very first thing that you need to consider. Develop a plan. When you need to move by and how will you be doing it. You have so many options these days. It's the choices of doing the job yourself over having a professional crew do it for you. All the details need to be addressed. If your last move didn't go as orderly as you expected then you have come to know what the consequences are if you don't make a list and stick to it.

Second, speaking of thoroughly paying attention to the details, what does that mean? Well it means that once you've figured out how it is you're going to move you need to gather quotes for the jog. It's recommended that you compare at least 3 companies to know what you are getting for the services. Most top companies who are competitive with one another will be in line with what they offer. This is a good way to get a great rate. Have them compete for your business.

Third, this is very important so pay close attention to this detail. All your services that you are expecting to receive and all estimates quoted for the move must be written estimates. They cannot be verbal estimates. This makes all the difference for a successful move when having to rely a moving company to pack, move and unpack all your worldly possessions. This is a trap some people fall into. A company will tell you that certain things are included then you come to find out that they just didn't happen. Get it in writing.

If you're just not sure about whom to choose then go to the companies you are considering specific site and look for customer satisfaction testimonials posted. Make sure that the company has a toll free customer service number for you to contact any time of the day or night. This is an indicator that the company has your best interest in mind.

Remember what I said. Proper planning and getting several estimates is the key to any successful move or situation and to save money. Any one will tell you that but what exactly does that mean. It means that you need to locate local Packers and Movers who have professional packing experience and professional moving services for door-to-door packing and all aspects of moving requirements.

If there are any complaints filed against a company you will find them posted with the Better Business Bureau. Look to see how well the company handles disputes and how well they worked to resolve the issue. Most reputable and reliable companies will have on hand all the necessary paperwork for you to fill out for your move or relocation to help guide you through the process.

This is extremely important especially if you are having your car transported and need to hire a car transporting service. This way both of you can stay relaxed and not feel pressured or rushed through the process of noting everything that is to be packed and moved. If you plan on packing your personal possessions yourself and plan on using moving pods make sure you allow plenty of time to gather packing materials and have everything packed. This way you can be better prepared to have the pod picked up and delivered door-to-door to your new location at the expected date you arranged.
