Don't Overdo Your Makeup

Jun 20, 2008
Have you ever wondered if your make up have expiration dates just like canned food or medicines? Make up have those as well too, but they are not called expiration date or "best before", they are called "period after opening". It's a symbol usually found on the back to tell you how long you have until the make up expires. If it states a symbol "12M", it means the make up is good for twelve months. A good tip would be using a permanent marker to write down beside the period after opening symbol the date you first opened or used the product.

Wondering where those unwanted blemishes came from? Maybe from your make up brushes that hasn't been washed for weeks. It's a golden rule, you should wash or clean and dry your make up brushes meticulously every after each use. This will avoid the chances for bacteria and fungus growth on your face. You have to wash your make up brushes used for creams and liquids. Germs reproduce a lot faster in damp environment. Sanitize them after by placing a few drops of brush cleaner or on a piece of cotton and swirling it around the bristles until it is visibly clean.

Orange is big during spring and summer seasons. Most models wear orange make up in different type of hues during Spring and Summer runway shows. You can opt for a vibrant coral or a more subdued apricot color, depending on your skin tone. It is best recommended to wear this orange make up only at one area of your face, then keep everything else simple. Maybe an orange eye shadow or lip stick is enough. You can begin with a lighter, sheer peach tones to boost the natural color of your lips or your skin. Bright or intense colors may be too ageing and dramatic.

You can never go wrong looking cute and young in candy colored make-up. Applying lilac and pink on your eyes and lips, but still curling up those eye lashes and having some waterproof mascara to counteract the tweetums look can do the trick. Applying purple eye shadow and brushing on two thick coats of curling mascara will reach your targeted candy look. Applying shimmery lipstick, in a light rose shade will do the lips for this look. Fixing up the hair, like having it curled up to frame up the face can be a plus factor for this cute candy look.

Once in a while, your face will have that shiny area, which just doesn't look good. This shiny area is usually at the forehead, and the usual solution to remove the shine is to apply pressed powder on that particular shiny area. Applying pressed powder isn't the only solution. You can also use mattifying gels for touch-ups during mid-day and have with you some zap oil with blotting sheets. Just press onto your face the blotting sheet and lift it gently so you don't get to wipe off any of your make up. This is often the best way to battle shine, because applying more make-up or powder can make it look cakey.

When you take a picture of yourself, do you find yourself too white or having "reverse-raccoon eyes"? Reason behind this mishap: you are using a foundation or concealer that has a shade that is too light for your skin tone. To find or buy the right shade of concealer or foundation for your skin tone, it is best if you test it on your jaw line, not your hands. If you are under natural light, and it disappears, then it's the right shade for you. It is suggested that a concealer, on the other hand, should be that's half a shade lighter.
