Rolex Watches and What You Know Before Buying One

Jun 21, 2008
Now, you do not have to be a watch enthusiast to know about Rolex watches. If you have ever seen a gangster movie or even if you are just a normal movie watcher, you would have heard of them. Other than probably Timex and Swiss watches, Rolex is the most well known watch to man and one of the most expensive.

Most people who cannot afford one might watch and think these watch stores or jewelry merchants are trying to rob them and sink a hole into their pockets. What you should know is that like all the other products in the marketplace, the prices are set by market forces. More or less as long as someone out there is willing to pay to the highest bidder for one of these watches, there basically is no reason for businesses and/or companies to reduce the price. When you really think of Rolex watches, quality and value is the first thing that comes to mind, look at it this way, the waiting list one of these watches commands, means that a person might have to wait about two years before they get to the peak of the list.

Can the price be justified?

Now is it justifiable to pay such exorbitant prices for one item? Yes, it is. Why do I say that? I for one cannot deny you from wondering why this is so, but when you at it, you come across just by chance a Rolex watch that is fifty, sixty years old, yes a watch sixty years you might think the person is just keeping it as memorabilia, well you would be wrong. Wrong, because even with that age a Rolex would still be keeping as accurate a time as it did when it was first bought. Now if you have it, monetary wise, would you really mind buying one these watches. What you should worry about instead is if the one you are going to buy is the genuine article or not.

The US for example in order to be absolutely sure that you get what you pay for, it is normal for one to buy of these watches at an authorized dealer though however as it is human nature we find alternative sources for cheaper sources , which are unauthorized jewelers usually sporting a watch with the name Rolex on it. It would be a much smarter idea to purchase a Rolex from an authorized dealer because for one thing the manufacturers recommend this and also as common sense would advise buying from someone who you classify unauthorized somewhat guarantees a fake.

EBay is also an alternative option to purchase a Rolex watch where you can find thousands of results for the word Rolex, and unbelievably or believably as the case might be, that much and more are sold each year. What anyone considering this should know is that there is no guarantee when buying these items and also there is also the risk of being duped and tricked by sellers who would not think twice to sell you a counterfeit and running away with your cash.

In the first place, before even thinking of it or if you have slightest inclination towards one you try to find out how spot a knockoff or fake and the only way, the only safe way is to consult an authorized technician who will remove the case and inspect the parts, movements, and bracelet thoroughly, which however is time consuming but extremely worth it considering the alternative.

No matter where you go or where you buy it from a Rolex watch would have more or less the same prices, if it real that is. If you think you are being ripped off you can just check the serial number of the watch that is displayed on the watch's tag and check the suggested selling price. You might be able from some dealers to secure a discount but it would not be much considering the amount the dealers buy them for themselves, they practically have no choice.

As far as I am concerned a Rolex watch is the embodiment of style and class, magnificent quality and guaranteed enjoyment to the customer for years to come. So if you ever come across the chance to buy one do not worry about price, it is worth it.
