Spring Break 2009 - Predicting The Hot Spot

Jun 21, 2008
Spring break 2009 will no doubt be a party somewhere. The question is where. Student spring break packages offer many destinations from Cancun, Mexico to the Bahamas. Certain spring break destinations may be popular one year and not the next. It can be difficult to predict the hot spot in advance.

When planning your upcoming spring break trip, its important to keep some things in mind. College students like cheap packages. Spring break packages above the one thousand mark per person will draw only a small segment of the spring break demographic. It doesn't matter how nice the hotel is or the spring break destination, if the price is over one thousand dollars it's going to eliminate many people. Lets face it, most college students are pressed for cash. They can't afford to spend over a thousand dollars on a spring break vacation.

Once you eliminate the high-priced packages, you can start to narrow things down a bit. There are many packages in the sub nine hundred category. A Bahama cruise is always a good choice. Most cost less than nine hundred dollars and are enjoyed by thousands of students each year. Bahama packages are popular because they involve an island destination at a reasonable price. Another option is Panama city and Daytona Beach, Florida. This is usually the first place college students go for spring break. Many have grown tired of this spring break destination.

The packages are some of the cheapest around, but many are going to try a different spring break destination because they have grown tired of traveling to the same place each year. Acapulco is another spring break option. Packages to Acapulco can be found for less than one thousand dollars, but not much less. The problem here is the flight portion of the package. Anytime you add airfare into the equation you inflate the price significantly. Cancun, Mexico has a huge draw for spring break. Packages for Cancun rarely go below the one thousand mark. Packages listed below one thousand dollars for Cancun typically include very low quality accommodations. Jamaica is popular, but is among the highest priced spring break trips available.

Spring break 2009 will see many college students traveling to many different spring break destinations. Predicting where the bulk of them will be is the difficult part. The best advice is to use the price factor as your starting point and move on from there.

A Bahama cruise can be one of the best spring break trips for college students. Bahamas cruises are a great way to start the party early. The second you board the ship it's non-stop party until you dock back at the port in the United States. A few quick travel tips can come in handy with any spring break package. The key elements to consider when taking a spring break cruise to the Bahamas are:

First, do not put one person it complete control of your spring break trip. Many Bahama packages are booked and coordinated by one person. This person may reserve spots for five to five hundred people in his or her fraternity or sorority. Many times the people this person is booking knows very little about the trip. The group leader does not inform them of all the details of the Bahamas package.

Second, make sure you have the proper documents in order to board the ship. A birth certificate may be all that is required, but a passport may be necessary. It's important to note that all international flights are passport only as of January 1, 2007.

Third, be on time. Do not be late to the port. You will not be able to board the ship if you arrive less than fourty-five minutes prior to your departure time.

And last but not least, be safe while in the Bahamas or at any vacation destination. Be smart, use your head, and don't do things that could get you into trouble.
