An aged cuban cigar is a great cigar

Jun 21, 2008
Everyone who tries Cuban cigars for the first time seems to simply fall in love with them. Same thing happened to me. After my first Fonseca (A mild Cuban cigar which is perfect for beginners), I was literally head over heels. I than got a chance to try out the Partagas Robusto and that pretty much sealed the deal. Soon I tried the Cohiba Robusto and I was floating in heaven. Nothing comes close to a fine Cuban cigar folks. absolutely nothing. What I really want to stress though is the whole deal gets even better. Did you know that you can actually age a Cuban cigar and they taste way better?

It is not known when someone realized that if you age the Cuban cigar leaves, it makes the flavors get even more complex. I'm sure it was a fluke - aren't all good things discovered like that? Although Cuban cigars are ready to be enjoy straight out of the box (Which usually has 25 cigars), If you let them age for a while, you will be pleasantly surprised. I'm not talking about couple of days or months, I'm talking about years. The Cohiba brand already has aged leaves in them thus making it extra special. Ofcourse I can go an on about Cohiba cigars but I'll save that for another time.

The great thing here is once you let them sit for a few years, they get better with age. The complex flavors are truly a treat to anyone's palette. The best way to age your Cuban cigar is by getting a humidor. It is basically a box that controls the temperature within, which is a must if you want to preserve your cigars. You see, Cuban has been blessed with some perfect climate to grow the best tobacco in the world. No other country even comes close. Combine perfect temperature with an art that goes back centuries, and you have something truly worthy on your hands.

However, don't be disheartened because Cuban cigar humidors vary when it comes to prices and today they are very affordable. It all depends on what your needs are and how many Cuban cigars you smoke. If you smoke a few a month, get a portable humidor. This way your cigar travel with you and you can easily carry like 3 - 5 sticks. If you are looking for a humidor and a nice piece of furniture, than why not try a table humidor? Some of them are truly art pieces and will bring your existing living room to life. Plus with a table humidor, your Cuban cigars will always be ready for people who you want to show to like your friends and family.

What you can do is start off with a little cheap humidor to see how it works and go from their. Their is nothing like aged Cuban cigars my friend. The great thing is that everything gets better when you age a Cuban cigar. The construction, the the taste and just the overall feel of the cigar. Invest in a humidor today and if you really want to get starterd, get some tupperware and put some water at the bottom and than place your cigar on a piece of cedar or something. Make sure it's not touching the water and this goes for the cedar and the wood. Enjoy!
