The Fundamentals of First Aid

"First impression is the last impression," this proverb can go very well with the victim of the accident. Very first response towards the victim is of prime importance and it will help to recover from the wound in a faster way. In order to minimise the heat loss, shock victim must be enfolded. You need to learn the pressure point in order to prevent blood flow from any wound and please do not shift the position of any wounded, who is reeling under spinal injury. You can only deal spinal victims if the danger is looming large. Kindly follow the basic first aid rules and actions in case of common emergencies.

Shock

Tied with severe injuries and emotional breakdowns, shock victim can be a difficult proposition to handle. Keep a close look on the victim and identify the indicators, such as clammy and clod skin, chills, pale face, frequent vomiting or nausea, shallow breathing, and confusion. These sums up for action, which is letting the victim lie with elevated leg. Keep the supply of liquid on and wrap the victim in order to prevent the heat loss.

Burns and Scalds

To ease to the severe pain caused by the burn, submerge the effected area in cool or tap water. You can do this without the assistance backing of medical pros. So, don't wait for them, act fast. Please note that, use of ice can create more harm to the burned area, keep that option at bay. Avoid the use of greases, powders, or ointments if you do not want to intensify the injury.

The demand of basic first aid is higher in case of bleeding. You can control the bleeding with the help of few accessories and your own finger. In order to protect the victim from the contamination, use of latex, rubber gloves or clean plastic bag in your hand can be very handy. Sometimes, hand or the finger pressure is not very effective to stop the bleeding. In that case, use thick pad of bandage or clean cloth directly on top of the wound and fix it with the help of belt, cloth strips or neckties. Do not stop the blood circulation to other parts.

Knowledge of basic first aid is very important and useful. Boost your knowledge, in order to lend a helping hand to others.
