What Can We Do To Fight Rising Oil Prices?

Jun 23, 2008
Oil Prices Have Risen 25% in the First Quater:

The price of crude oil has risen 25% in the first quarter. Per the news media, this is a result of surging demand from both India and China, and the reduction in the supply of oil from Iraq and Nigeria.

Supply and Demand Account for Some of the Price Increase:

While the above statement is true, it does not account for the dramatic rise in oil prices over the last year. Consider that the data shows worldwide demand is actually down while worldwide supply is up. Oil consumption dropped from 87 million barrels daily (last quarter of '07) to 86 million barrels. During the same period, supply actually rose from 85 million to 87 million barrels. In an efficient market place, prices would have dropped.

But this is not what happened. During this period, crude oil prices sharply increase.

Commodity Trading is Causing the Sharp Rise in Oil Prices:

How does commodity trading play a role in raising oil prices? Partly the volatility in Venezuela and Nigeria are having an impact. But predominantly it is the surge in money from the stock markets and real estate that are flowing into the commodities market; specifically, the oil. Traders then bid the price up to reap huge profits.

The decline in the dollar is also playing a role. To maintain profit margins, as the dollar declines, OPEC increases the price of crude oil. Also, as prices decline in the stock market and real estate, money is redirected to oil and gold futures. A bubble is forming as traders continue to bid prices higher.

What is the Outcome?

Prices for oil will continue up until the commodities market for crude oil declines. When this will occur is uncertain. When it does occur, it is uncertain just how severe the drop will be.

How can we fight back? Current technology provides an answer to high gasoline prices; technology that will reduce gas consumption by significantly increasing the mpg of your vehicle.

The Battle Against High Gas Prices Begins Here:

Within the next few years, car manufacturers will be introducing high-mileage cars. But there's no need to wait or to pay a premium for the next generation of cars. Techonology exists today that provides an inexpensive way to reduce our consumption of gasoline by increasing significantly gas mileage. And, there is no need for any expensive modifications or adjustments to the engine.

The technology is electrolysis: a simple process that converts water to a highly combustible gas called oxyhydrogen. Oxyhydrogen has 3x the energy in BTUs as gasoline, which makes it an incredible energy source.

Oxyhydrogen is generated on-demand and fed to the engine as needed. This means the system is completely safe. Unlike the Hydrogen Fuel Cell car, there is no dangerous hydrogen stored in the vehicle.

As a bonus, when oxyhydrogen burns in the engine's cylinders, it is converted back to water. This means reduced polution at the tail pipe and a reduction in carbon build-up in the cylinders.

The improvement in gas mileage will vary based on the vehicle and your driving habits. Many have experienced an increase of over 50% in gas mileage. This translates into saving thousands on gas costs.

This system works along the same principal as the Hybrid car. By capturing wasted energy and then recylcing it as needed, dramatic improvements in gas mileage can be realized. Wasted energy occurs whenever the engine is running and the car is at a standstill, or when coasting along the highway.
