How Breakfast can Help Lose your Tummy

On any typical morning so many busy Moms start the day with a hot cup of coffee to "wake up" and get them through another busy morning. And Moms go through the rest of their morning with the subconscious guilt of knowing that, love it or hate it; they should have had a healthy breakfast.

Okay, breakfast may not be your meal of choice but as a Mom you know its important for your children's proper growth and development. Breakfast is an easy meal to "miss" because a busy Mom's time focuses on looking after her family's needs and demands during the morning rush. Thus, breakfast can seem more of a hindrance than a necessity to the morning flow of activity. And a Mom can reassure herself that she can "catch up" with fueling her body later by eating a hearty lunch.

Many Moms are under the illusion that missing a meal, like breakfast, is to their advantage to lose the pregnancy weight. Unfortunately, this is not so. The truth is that breakfast boosts your metabolism to burn the baby fat and this aids in contributing to better weight control.

1. Breakfast is what you make it.

Breakfast isn't for everyone and the thought of eating first thing in the morning makes some of us physically sick. But the great thing about the human body is that it can adjust and adapt to change. Losing the baby fat requires that you adjust your morning routine by eating a healthy breakfast. The wonderful thing about breakfast is that there are many are simple, quick and easy to prepare recipes and ideas.

A healthy breakfast is as simple as a Strawberry smoothie, a Kashi-Go Lean energy bar or a bowl of Nature's Path Raisin Bran cereal with skim milk and some strawberries. Most of these simple healthy breakfasts don't require a lot of time to prepare and can make losing pregnancy weight faster because you will boost your metabolism and burn more calories. All that is required is that you take the initiative to plan ahead and make time for breakfast.

2. Breakfast gets your metabolism going.

The right way to lose your tummy is to eat a healthy breakfast everyday. Your metabolism is low in the morning due to your inactivity during sleep. However, unless you kick-start your metabolism with eating breakfast, your metabolism will remain on "low" for the rest of the day. This means that your body will burn less of the day's total caloric intake and the remainder will be converted into fat. Studies have shown, again and again, that people who eat a healthy breakfast will eat fewer calories throughout the day and as a result weigh less compared to people who skip breakfast.

3. Your body needs a healthy Breakfast.

Avoiding breakfast consciously or subconsciously will not get you to lose the pregnancy weight fast. In fact, it will hinder your weight loss progress. A healthy breakfast is defined by the quality of nutrients that you put in your body. The following nutrients should be a part of your breakfast: a whole grain food group such as bran, spelt, oats; a protein such as low-fat dairy products, nut products, and a fruit such as an apple, blueberries, nectarine, etc. Also when buying food products make sure that you read the ingredients and look for high fiber, low sugar, salt and fat content.

When you need to lose weight after giving birth, eating a healthy breakfast is a good way to start for you and yours. Not only will it get your metabolism off to a good start but it will also give you the energy you need to trim your tummy and get through your morning activities. Breakfast will also provide your body with the necessary nutrients that it needs to keep you fit and functioning as the amazing Super Mom that you are.
