If you want tips on ways to lose weight fast - then get this right - there are no quick fixes in life. Losing weight is hard work and it takes plenty of effort to get over your doubts. But losing weight is a reality. It just takes time and requires you to make the necessary changes to your lifestyle - like the way you eat and being more active. Below are 5 solid tips to lose weight-

1. Muscles are good for men, and women. For various reasons, too many women tend to overlook strength training, but a single pound of muscle requires three to five times more energy to sustain itself compared with a pound of fat. That means with more muscles you'll burn more calories, even at rest.

2. Even 'bad foods' can be good, in moderation. The keys are portion size and cooking method. Juicy, tender cuts of steak are fatty, but are fine to eat if you trim the lard before cooking, or grill it so excess fat can drip away. As for easy guideline on portions, always eat less steak than you would chicken.

3. Enter the store with a clear goal, and you're less likely to be distracted by promotions and offers. Studies show that having a shopping list shaves at least 10 percent off the bill by helping you avoid impulse buys. So try to make list of fresh foods you need for the week and avoid the junk foods. And consider the volume of the groceries you're about to buy: if you can get by with a basket, you're less likely to add extra items than if you are pushing a trolley.

4. Few easy ways to balanced meals - have vegetable soups or salads for lunch with small amounts of protein. Add a piece of fruit before or after a meal. Eat meat, poultry or fish with a mixed salad, instead of potatoes (one of the few acid forming vegetables), rice or pasta. If planning rice or pasta - gfor the wholemeal kinds - and add veggies to the dish. Drink your eight to ten glasses of water a day with a squeeze of lemon. Drink herbal teas instead of coffee, black teas and sodas. Finally, eat fruit snacks between meals.

5. Your favorite exercise - only better - daily walker? Seasoned swimmer? You get kudos for your commitment, but you maybe short changing yourself. As you become more accustomed to your favorite activity, you burn fewer calories. This doesn't mean you have to ditch your go to exercise - just mix it up. As your fitness improves, increase the intensity levels to challenge your body (but train with in your limits). Look at jogging 100 yards followed by another hundred yards of walking, rinse and repeat. It's a great way to jolt the body's metabolism. Alternatively, look at a combination of interval training and strength training to get the maximum output from your body.

The key here is eat properly, eat in moderation and start exercising. The good news is you don't have to cut out completely your favorite treats, just reduce the amount you eat, say once a week. Life is not about locking yourself in prison. It's about moderation, taking each day as it comes, and improving your lifestyle. These are the best tips on ways to lose weight fast and for good.
