Have the Time of Your Life in Las Vegas

Jun 30, 2008
Las Vegas known at "The Entertainment Capital of the World" is located in southeastern Nevada, USA. With its notorious nightlife it is also known as "Sin City" due to its gambling and prostitution history. Today it is well know for its resorts, casinos, shopping and Broadway and Hollywood type shows.

With the unrestricted availability of alcoholic beverages, Las Vegas is the place to be for conventions and vacations alike. It's is one of the world's most recognizable cities and is featured often on television and in movies.

Las Vegas was established in 1905 as a railroad town when 110 acres were auctioned off. It was not until 1911 that it was officially made a city. By the end of the century Las Vegas had become distinguished as one of the the most populous city in America. It is now the 28th in the country and number one in the western part of the country. The area surrounding the city that has yet to be built up is often referred to as Las Vegas as well. This always includes the resorts that border the Las Vegas Strip which is four and a half miles long and encompassing the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester.

Today there is a huge variety of motels, hotels, and resorts to stay depending on your budget and lifestyle. The large mega-hotels are ultra luxurious but are very costly. If you have a car and can stay off the strip you can get a nice hotel at a good price.

In the middle of treeless mountains in an entirely flat valley, Las Vegas offers all sorts of photo opportunities for visitors. The lights that are put off by the city ans well as the active streets are an amazing sight to behold. There are a million things for the tourist to do all in one cluster. You can go from your hotel room to a casino in a matter of minutes in Vegas as most all hotels have their own casinos right off the main lobby area.

When visiting Las Vegas you need to make sure that you take along some gambling money, it doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to try your luck at the slots or maybe even a blackjack table. If you don't know how to play then many of the casinos offer free lessons during the day for your pleasure. Don't forget to plan on taking in a show or two as well. Las Vegas has some of the best shows to be enjoyed such as David Cassidy, Penn and Teller, Cirque Du Soliel or even a Vegas Showgirl extravaganza.

People watching is a fascinating thing to do in Las Vegas as most people look like a scene from a seventies movie. It's all glitz and glamour appearance is a plus for most tourist. There is plenty of scenery surrounding the area to keep your attention. Las Vegas is a fun city, so get ready, pack your bags and have a fabulous time!
